The Fraser National Guard was organized on November 10, 1890 from the former Michigan Militia. The first unit to be mobilized was Company K of the 1st Regiment, Michigan Volunteer Infantry. The regiment served with distinction in the Spanish-American War and World War I. For his heroism during that war, Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. In 1919, the National Guard Reserve was created and Company H of the 1st Regiment became part of it. In 1924, a new battalion was formed and Company G was made an independent unit within the National Guard Reserve. The 1st Regiment's successor company (now Company E) did not mobilize until 1932 when it joined up with other units in order to form Battalion A at Fraser Army Airfield. That battalion participated in both world wars as well as occupation duty during WWII; however, it is best known for its role in providing security for Detroit during that time period. Since then, there have been several changes to how national guard gift history is recorded and celebrated in Fraser; most notably, incorporation into county government which has led to increased interaction between local police departments and state troopers as well as more involvement by local businesses in giving away gifts to members of the Guardsman detachment stationed here. The community is located on the east bank of the lower Ottawa River, about 15 miles north of Detroit. The Fraser area was first settled by Scots immigrants who arrived in 1836. They were farmers and ranchers who started a ranch near present-day Fraser. The town began to grow when the railroad arrived in 1879 and brought jobs to the area. The town was renamed Fraser after Sir John Aird, Governor of Canada from 1886 to 1889. Fraser has a population of about 1,500 people today and it remains an important agricultural center with a significant presence in the local economy. The town also manufactures various items such as clothing and home appliances. In recent years, Fraser has become known for its whisky production which is especially popular in Europe.

Fraser, Michigan is a small town located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 8,591 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most northerly towns in the United States. Fraser was named for Sir John Fraser, a British general who fought against Native Americans in 1812 and 1813. The town was established on December 10, 1887 by order of Territorial Governor James K. Polk. The first post office in Fraser opened on January 1, 1889. The first store was built on Main Street and operated until 1904. In 1902, a schoolhouse and garage were built on lot #7 within the boundaries of the present-day town limits. The first doctor to practice in Fraser was Dr.-Hamilton Sweeny in 1907. Another early resident was Mrs.-Minnie Hays (1872-1948). In 1912, the name change from Frazer to Fraser occurred due to an appeal from residents which also included an amendment requesting that "the word ‘Frazer’ be pronounced as ‘Fraser’." A post office has been served continuously by Frasers since 1909 when it opened at what is now known as 5th Avenue South near its intersection with 4th Street South (now State Road 6). In 1915, a grocery store and two other businesses were constructed adjacent to Fifth Avenue South between Third Street North and First Street North; this area became known as Central Square today after those structures were destroyed by fire in 1931 which destroyed much of central square including most of Frasers' original buildings including their church which still stands today inside Central Square - along with more than 20 other buildings erected during prohibition days around this time including several stores occupied by prohibitionists before they were destroyed or moved away during prohibition's repeal In 1922/23 when School District No 15 coverage expanded into rural areas south of Grand Rapids Frasers new high school building opened just north of 5th Ave SE The current day picture can be seen looking east from 5th Ave SE towards Monroe County line
Fremont is a small city in the lower Peninsula of Michigan, located on the north bank of the Shiawassee River. The population was 21,959 at the 2010 census. Fraser was founded by Scots Presbyterians in 1824 as a landing place for traders and fur trappers travelling through what is now upper Michigan. The city became an important center for industry and commerce during the 19th century, and its growth continued into the 20th century. In 1974, Fraser became part of Metro Detroit when it was united with other metropolitan areas in that region. Fraser has been known for its potters, brewers and textile manufacturers since before America's independence from Great Britain. The first potters in Fraser were Scottish settlers who came to farm near present-day downtown in 1824. Some of these pioneers started making salt flasks which they sold to local Indian tribes along the Shiawassee Riveras early as 1795. A brewery called "The Albion" was built on First Street in 1827 by John Day and David Glover; it later became part of American Brewing Company (AB) Inc., which merged with Anheuser-Busch InBev SA (ABI) in 1999 to form SABMiller plc (SBA). Fraser's rapid economic growth following World War II led to development of numerous businesses including auto manufacturing plants, paper processing mills, garment factories and aluminum smelting operations. By 1975, Fraser had become one of metro Detroit's most vibrant cities with a population of more than 100,000 people concentrated around downtown and several neighborhoods on the riverfront. The decline of heavy industrial activity during the 1990s caused some loss of jobs but also helped contribute to increased housing prices and social services available within walking distance or at public libraries throughout town centre districts such as Downtown Fraserburgh/East Side/West Side/ CentrePointe etc.. In recent years there have been efforts made by both Mayor James Brainard & City Council members Jerry Demings & Dave Kraybill to attract new businesses& residences within town limits while maintaining essential services such as police department service (& fire protection), library system (& recreation), ambulance service (& EMS), water supply (& wastewater treatment), streetlights etc...
