The Army National Guard of Eastpointe, Michigan has a rich history dating back to 1907. The organization was formed as the "Michigan Militia" and functioned as an auxiliaries of the state militia during World War I. From 1920 to 1927, the National Guard played a significant role in local law enforcement under the leadership of Colonel John W. Fenton. During World War II, the Army National Guard played an important role in patriotic mobilization and served as a supporting arm of General George Patton's Operation Overlord. After the war, Eastpointe's NGF continued its traditions by becoming one of the first units in Michigan to become certified for organ donation and became involved in numerous community services. In recent years, however, some members of Eastpointe's NGF have expressed concern about their unit's future due to budget cuts and changes made within the military that could impact their mission. Despite these concerns, many residents remain supportive of Eastpointe's NGF and continue to make donations to support its work.

Eastpointe is a city in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 7,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. Eastpointe was founded as a village in 1836 and incorporated as a city in 1871. The name "Eastpointe" comes from the Ottawa River where it flows into the Muskegon River. The first settler to arrive on the present site of Eastpointe was George Stephenson in 1814 when he built his mill on the river near today's downtown. East Pointe grew rapidly with development of transportation and industry: by 1900, it had over 100 businesses employing more than 5,000 people. In 1907, local industrialist John Pritzker purchased 3 parcels adjacent to what is now downtown Eastpointe for $2 million dollars making him one of America's largest land owners in rural areas during that era. He developed these parcels into what are now eastern sections of Eastpointe including Lincoln Park (now called Midtown), which contains several blocks of large department stores along Woodward Avenue and State Street; Renaissance Center; and Grandview Heights (now known as Eastern Market). The growth of retail corridors such as Midtown began to take hold within east section neighborhoods like Lincoln Park following World War II when demand for housing rose after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and Americans were displaced abroad due to war-time rationing programs. Retail growth continued throughout the postwar decades with various anchor tenants coming and going but by 2006 all but two anchors had closed or been sold: JCPenney left for Home Depot; Kmart went bankrupt in 2011; Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy auction in 2013 selling most of its US presence with plans to close 1,500 stores nationwide before exiting entirely in 2018 In 2006 they also acquired Menard's grocery store which anchored their redevelopment plan then vacated it soon afterwards moving back inside Menard's building until recently when they leased back out again leasing office space next door now occupied by an artspace studio/gallery & community lounge called Fenton Place Today there are over 350 businesses located downtown along Woodward Avenue between State Street and Gratiot Avenue with more planned or announced openings each week across a broad array of industries including technology, health care/fitness/laboratories, food services/retail etc., generating nearly 2 million square feet (190 thousand m²) Of commercial real estate currently under construction or expected completion within Downtown Eastpointe totaling approximately $5 billion dollars just attributable to retail developments alone! This represents an increase from 2005 when Downtown Eastside had less than 1 percent market share! Eastpointe is a small town in the Michigan countryside, located about 20 miles east of Lansing. The population was 1,818 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Allegany County. The name "Eastpointe" comes from two Anglo-Saxon words - hæpōt and point - meaning "headland". The first settler in Eastpointe was John Morse, who arrived in 1792. He named his new town after Captain George Easton of the U.S. Navy's ship Delaware, which had been sunk during the War of 1812 off the coast of Canada. Morse's son-in-law and namesake, James Kapp, also settled in Eastpointe and helped to develop what is now the downtown area. In 1807, Nicholas Prentice built a gristmill on Saginaw River near present day First Street and US 12 (now US 131). That mill became one of Eastpointe's earliest businesses and remains an important part of its history today. In 1836, Andrew McNaught purchased land at what is now South Bend Avenue and 300th Street south of Main Street in what is now Northeast Detroit; he founded McNaughton & Company lumberyards here. This company did much to promote local rural life by exporting woodchips from their mills toDetroit markets through a network of ships anchored along the Great Lakes region known as the Erie Canal System (the 6th canal). The McNaught family would continue this tradition until their death in 1907 when it passed onto other descendants including Henry Ford II who also founded Dearborn Automotive Company on South Bend Avenue just north of Macklinore Road adjacent to today’s Ford Motor Company campus.) During World War II, many people worked at nearby Lake Huron Naval Ammunition plant where plutonium were being produced for weapons development; these workers would return home during peace time to rebuild their lives while still living within easy driving distance of their jobs at NAPA Valley Community College or Eastern Michigan University (EMU), both located within walking distance across I-75/I-696 access points – making it easy for residents to get around without leaving their homes or communities! Today there are many businesses that have arisen out of necessity due to closures or relocation within Hometown United Way’s “Community Renewal Zone” boundaries; such as: L&L Tire & Rubber Co., which relocated from Flint when that city went through its own municipal bankruptcy; ITT Technical Institute since 2000 has grown into one of MIAMI’s largest tech companies with 400 employees statewide providing training for more than 12000 individuals each week; Stacey’s Pizza opened up shop next door after years decaying on property owner’s hands due lackadaisical attitude towards customers service issues etc.; all while housing services like Habitat For Humanity have come back into play with assistance given by GMac Communities Inc., formerly known as Renaissance Properties Group LLC., which owns 5 properties totaling over 121 acres used primarily for senior citizens housing stabilization/repairification efforts free from flooding or demolition requests………..all this happening simply because we are all members/ beneficiaries / stakeholders/ participants / beneficiariesof Community United Way……….and we will keep going strong no matter what

The city was founded in 1855 by three brothers, Samuel Eastman, John Eastman and Augustus Kelley. It became a town in 1861 and was incorporated as a city in 1865. During the American Civil War, the city sided with the Union but lost many of its citizens to battle. In 1955, Eastpointe moved from its original downtown location to what is now its eastern edge for economic reasons. In 1960, it merged with neighboring sections of Detroit to form the new City of Detroit proper.
