The Michigan Air National Guard's 145th Fighter Wing (145 FW) is the oldest continuously operational fighter wing in the United States Military. The wing was activated on 1 September 1939 and flew the P-40 Warhawk into combat during World War II. After the war, it was redesignated as a fighter squadron inactivated on 15 October 1946 and reactivated on 3 April 1949 at Eastpointe AFB, Michigan. It served as a training unit until its disbandment on 10 May 1954. In 1992, the Eastpointe AFB then USAF reopened it as an air force base with two squadrons of F-15C Eagle aircraft which were used to fly Operation Desert Storm from Forbes AFB in Arizona. Since 9/11 there has been increased use of F-15Cs by both MIAMI and EAST POINTEAN AIR FORCE BASE for air threats throughout North America including airspace over New York City We also now have 2 KC-135R Stratotankers that can provide refueling support to our fighters while they are in the air

On July 30, 1959, the Eastpointe Arsenal Local Air Force (LEAF) was formed when the city of Eastpointe and the former Michigan Strategic Bombing Survey (MBS) shared a gift of 1,200 bombers. The gift was made possible by an agreement between MBS and Eastpointe Mayor Harry W. Dixon. The 1,200 bombers were soon joined by 2,500 more and on December 16, 1959, all bomber groups were united as theEastpointe Arsenal Air Force. In 1961-1962, the LEAF activated for duty at Moody AFB in Georgia as part of Operation Neptune Spear which aimed to stop North Korean missiles from reaching America. In 1969-1970 the LEAF activated for duty at Edwards AFB in California during Operation Alcatraz which targeted Oakland's Haight Ashbury district for bombing. Eastpointe is a town in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlement in what is now East Pointe was made in 1836 by John Wainwright and his family. They named their new township after their ancestral home on Canoga Lake near Rome, New York. The name "East Pointe" was applied to the whole township because it extended eastward from the point where Holland River opens into Lake Erie. The first post office opened in 1837, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1849, three brothers—George Washington Carver, Nathan Bedford Forrest and Elijah Bledsoe—founded a gristmill on the west side of town to process wheat that had been brought overland from Canada. The mill became one of the largest flour mills in Michigan and produced some 4 million pounds (2 tons) of flour per year between 1850 and 1860. In 1862, when Congress passed an act authorizing construction of a railway through Michiganders' townships for transportation purposes, East Pointe residents raised $5200 to help finance the project. When the railroad reached East Pointe Township on October 5, 1861,[1] local farmers received about 50% of all transported goods; this arrangement continued until 1964 when railroads began delivering items only to designated municipalities or counties within those jurisdictions.[2] In 1865-1866,[3] work started on building what would become known as Woodward Avenue which ran from east downtown Detroit via State Street north to Ypsilanti Hills before turning northwest along Main Street to reach Forest Park Boulevard just south of I-235/I-75/M-1 (now MLK Jr.) northbound exit ramp.[4][5] Work stopped due to lack of funds but resumed later that year with assistance from Ulysses S Grant[6][7] who waived federal taxes for those involved with development projects throughout central Michigan including Woodward Avenue project - helping spur similar efforts elsewhere in southeastern Michigan including Lansing Township where Grant owned land.[8][9][10] In 1870s Woodward Ave., now MD 475E heading towards Ightfield Rd./State St., served as eastern terminus for Grand Rapids Railroad's West Side Line; present day Eastern Market area served as market place for village beyond today’s border with Dearborn Heights
The United States Air Force has a history of giving gifts to others. Gifts have been given in many different ways, but the air force gift history is one of the most venerable. The U.S. Air Force was founded on December 17th, 1947 by General George C. Marshall as the United States Army Air Forces. The USAF was created as an arm of the Department of Defense and it began operations on September 15th, 1946. On July 1st, 1948 General Curtis LeMay created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) within the Department of Defense which would eventually become part of the Department of Homeland Security. On November 4th, 1949 President Harry Truman signed into law Public Law 103-236 which established the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This act also granted NASA exclusive rights to develop space technologies for peaceful use with no commercial or military interests involved whatsoever! In 1969 Congress passed an act known as "The Apollo 11 Act" which gave NASA authorization to land two astronauts on Earth's surface for a limited amount of time in order to conduct scientific experiments! On July 20th, 1977 President Jimmy Carter signed into law Presidential Executive Order 13437 which ordered all manned spacecraft be deployed into orbit using only expendable launchers! This event marked a turning point in American space exploration and set the stage for future missions such as Hubble telescope!

The town of Eastpointe, Michigan was founded in 1833 by a group of English settlers. The town became an important part of the American Midwest during the 19th century and was known for its manufacturing capabilities. In 1907, Eastpointe was renamed to honor General George Custer, who died in battle during the American Civil War. Today, Eastpointe is a small community located within the city of Detroit. The origins of Eastpointe can be traced back to 1833 when a group of English settlers arrived in what is now east-central Michigan. The colonists were led by John Richardson and William Allington. They named their new location after General George Custer, who had been killed in battle two years earlier. At first, the colonists did not have much success farming the land they had acquired and were forced to move several times due to weather conditions. However, they soon began producing crops and built homes on their new property. In 1907, however, things changed when General George Custer died in action at Battle Creek Battlefield near Detroit. Many people inEastpointe felt that his death should be honored with a special ceremony as he had been an important figure in their town’s history. Accordingly, on July 6th of that year, Eastpointe became known as “Custer Township” in his memory. This change also reflected the then-current trend towards honoring military leaders throughout America by name rather than just through titles or numbers. After World War I endedchievements continued forEast pointeproperties such as heavy Industry which would continue until retiring into decline starting around 1990 As well as other businesses such as health care & real estate becoming more popular over time Also schools like Loyola High School closed down which made it hard for students living near by while still attending school There are some buildings left but most have been replaced or completely torn down
