The Dearborn Coast Guard Auxiliary was formed on October 1, 1906. It was the result of a merger of two volunteer organizations: The Detroit Park Rangers and the Ann Arbor Yacht Squadron. The first coast guard unit in Dearborn was organized on December 3, 1907.

It is no secret that the Coast Guard has been a vital part of our society for many years. The Coast Guard was founded on August 29, 1914 as the United States Revenue Cutter Service. The predecessor to the Coast Guard was the Revenue Marine Corps which was formed in 1857. In 1917, the Coast Guard became an independent service with its own directorate and headquarters. In 1950, the Coast Guard acquired its current name and uniforms when it separated from the Treasury Department’s Naval Forces. On July 24th, 1954, a new Headquarters building was dedicated at New York City’s Queensboro Bridge after over $100 million had been spent on repairs and renovations to that structure since it opened in 1929. At its peak in 1966-1968, the Coast Guard had a workforce of over 1 million men and women working under three flag officer commanders and their staffs of more than 200 officers and enlisted personnel assigned to duty ashore or afloat across 46 states and Puerto Rico. After experiencing significant budget cuts during the 1990s, however, Assistant Secretary Gordon Liddy announced plans to reduce funding for both law enforcement activities within Homeland Security Agency (HSA) as well as for overall homeland security by 6%, thus terminating all coast guard functions within HSA effective September 2000. As a result of this decision, approximately 2200 members of the Coast Guardsmen were laid off including 1400 guardsmen who served aboard vessels based at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba during Operation Neptune’s Spear which ended in May 2002 due to concerns about terrorist threats against US soil emanating from that base; this action resulted in increased tensions between DOD and DHS over control of detention facilities inside Cuba The reduction in resources also caused problems with morale among some members given their long hours offshore while others still reported deployments outside mainland America For many people who have watched change take place within our coastal communities over time – be it through elected officials or special interest groups seeking influence over those same officials – one constant has been how fundraisers have always played an important role in enabling these entities to maintain their support even as budgets become tighter. Dearborn, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and one of the largest in the region. The population was 553,914 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Midwestern United States by population. Dearborn is also one of the most populous cities on the Great Lakes region and has been called "the cultural capital of Northwestern Michigan." It has been home to many important businesses and families including Ford Motor Company, GM, General Motors Co., Stanley Kubrick, Henry Ford II and more. Dearborn's rich history can be seen from its locations within downtown Dearborn as well as from its neighborhoods such as River Rouge and Highland Park which are now designated National Historic Landmarks. The first people to settle in what is now Dearborn were agriculturalists who arrived during the late 18th century. In 1795, George Washington purchased land in what is today Dearborn Heights for $2,000 bucks dollars which he used as part of his farming operation near Mount Morris Township. By 1800, there were over 20 households living in what would become Dearborn County. The first post office was established in 1812 with John Tilton serving as Postmaster General. The county seat was moved from Mount Morris to Detroit due to lack of space on account of burgeoning populations there at that time while Detroit had already become a major metropolis with over 200 settlements scattered throughout different wards or districts (later renamed streets). The town started off as just a small cluster of houses on dirt roads around Mount Morris Lake where early pioneers hunted game for food and gathered wood for energy during cold winters months when few other activities could be done outside for fear of frostbite or worse weather conditions which often led to harsh living conditions especially if temperatures dropped below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit). With limited resources available even though lots occurred some progress was made starting with weekly meetings held by farmer husbands to discuss common problems faced by their communities before moving forward with various projects like building bridges or erecting churches etcetera local officials soon realized that they needed more than just residents meeting together once every week to get things done so they set up committees consisting mostly farmers themselves that would take matters into their own hands implementing projects like improving road intersections leading up to new schools etcetera this type governance model eventually gained momentum becoming known as village government systems across North America whereby elected officials controlled specific aspects such as finances (property taxes), education etcetera following similar practices implemented by English counties prior 100 years ago when large areas were divided among numerous villages/towns sharing revenues generated through agriculture products exported back home
