Clawson is a small town in the Kalamazoo Valley of Michigan. It is located on the east side of the Kawkawa River, about 20 miles north of Lansing and 25 miles south of Grand Rapids. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Clawson's ZIP code is 48503. The town was founded in 1818 by Capt. John Clawson and his brother Samuel as a trading post on the Kawkawa River near present-day Painters Falls. In 1829, Clawson became the capital of Battle Creek County when it was created from parts of Kent and Shiawassee counties. The county courthouse, which still stands, was built in 1829 by Capt. John Clawson and his son Jobster Clawson, Jr.. In 1840, Clawson became a part of Michigan Territory when it was created from Western Wayne and Ottawa counties. The territory included all of what is now southeastern Michigan except for some land that would later become Eaton County. In 1846, Michigan Statehood came into effect; Clawson became part of Macomb County (later Lansing). In 1855, following a local referendum to secede from Macomb County to form Oakland County (later Detroit), Clawson voted to remain within Macomb County while Oakland COUNTY seceded to form its own government. In 1862, during the American Civil War, while Union troops were besieging Fort Gratiot on the west bank of the Kawkawa River near modern day Bay City, Ontario residents began dynamiting buildings in downtown Clawson in order to distract Confederate forces from assaulting Fort Gratiot itself; this event is also known as "The Bombing." Afterward, most residents returned home but some remained behind and formed an unofficial militia called "The Rangers" with help from local businesses such as J & B Chopin Logistics Company before finally joining forces with General Ulysses S Grant's Union army against General Robert E Lee's Army duringthe Siege Of Petersburg in 1865; this event is also known as "The Battle Of Petersburg". At least one building destroyed during that battle remains standing today - Old Post Office Building #1 - across From Park Avenue Northeast corner onto Wabash Avenue NW., formerly occupied by J & B Chopin Logistics Company grocery store prior to its demolition in 2002 by then owner Larry Hebert after years being unused since then according to city records however no call for bids ever appeared online or any public announcement occurred until after demolition taking place under false pretenses costing $10K dollars plus time wasted by city officials who knew nothing about nor approved thereof

In addition, it contained an aluminum foil parcel filled with money-in-handprinted cards reading “Gratefully received by United States Forces in South Vietnam – Your Friends at The Wegmansâ€. This event is significant because it was one of the first times that US troops had been given cash gifts from American grocery stores in support of theirOperation Rolling Thunder campaign against North Vietnamese forces. It also marked a turning point for US involvement in the war; prior to this period, most Gifts were either food or ammunition donations. Clawson is a city in the Great Lakes region of Michigan, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. Clawson is first mentioned in 1812 when George Stephenson and his brother William founded the village of Clawson on the east side of what is now Gratiot Avenue in what is now Ottawa County. It was incorporated as a town on December 12, 1915. The name "Clawson" comes from one of Stephenson's slaves, who had been born into slavery in Georgia but died freeing himself and his family. Clawson was once known for its lacrosse teams that won several state championships between 1945-1949. The city also has produced notable athletes such as NHL player Gilbert Arenas and track stars Usain Bolt and Hana Koyama. In recent years it has become home to two major tech startups; OneEgg and Wingoo which are both headquartered there.
