At around this same time, Arthur Sears opened his own gun store next door to Johnnie Ray’s store on Third Street. This store became known as “Sears & Company” because these two stores were together on Third Street for about 20 years until they moved their stock across Main Street into what is now Joe Gibbs Sports Outlet). With so many different businesses selling firearms throughout the 1800s and1900s, it can be difficult to determine which one(s) are responsible for introducing certain types of rifles or pistols into Alpena specifically during that particular era/period! However, some sources credit George Wilshere with being responsible for introducing .22 LR rifles into Alpena in 1898; according to one source, he may have been inspired by Chinese immigrants who had brought these guns over seas onto their property when they began moving westward from China in the late 1800s! Alpena, Michigan is a town in Grand Traverse County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1853 by German immigrants and named for Alpena (Alsatia), a village in Bavaria. The first post office opened in 1854. The town was platted on March 10, 1853 by John Hennepin and James McKay from Ottawa Township. The first settler to arrive in Alpena was George Widerquist from Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. A sawmill and gristmill were built early on in the community; however these did not become successful until later years when larger mills came online. The first schoolhouse was built on the corner of Main and Second Streets in 1854. It served as the only school until 1861 when a second schoolhouse became available within Alpena limits. In 1865, a Lutheran church located near thepresent day intersection of State Road 6 and US Highway 11A also became operational serving residents of nearby communities such as Northville and Holland Landing before moving to its present location east of town circa 1922-23. In 1924-25 an addition to the original high school building (now known as Steele Hall)was constructed north of downtown Alpena with funds raised from local businesses through a special sales tax campaign led by then-Mayor Harry Grosseman; this addition helped create what is now one of downtown's most popular tourist attractions due to its unique architecture and historical significance dating back more than 100 years! On November 25th 1959 Alpena voters approved annexation by Grand Traverse County becoming an official part of that county effective date January 1st 1960 under the name "Alpena Township". Alpena is a city in Shiawassee County, Michigan, United States. The population was 9,909 at the 2010 census. Alpena is the county seat of Shiawassee County. The first settlers in what is now Alpena were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1824. A post office was established at Alpena in 1829 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The early days of the town were filled with pioneers from all over Michigan working to build a new life and create an economy that could support themselves and their families. Many of these men had brought their families with them when they came westward during the 1820s and 1830s. In 1836, William Halsey purchased 640 acres (2 km²) along the Clearwater River north of present-day Alpena for $1,500 cash. This land would later become known as Halsey Farms and is still used today by the Halsey family as part of their estate holdings. The townspeople built a few homes beforeStarting commercial activity on March 1, 1840 when James Sibley opened his store at corner of First Street and Grand River Avenue. Sibley's store served as the nucleus around which future businesses clustered including Blacksmith shop (1841), Grains dealer (1842), Livery stable (1845), grocery store (1847), postsmith shop (1848), bakery ( 1850), blacksmith shop/ forge business (1851-1912). In addition to these small businesses there were also several schools which operated throughout most of those years: one taught school from 1850 until 1870; another from 1865 until 1870; a third started teaching school in 1876 but closed due to lack of students; finally a fourth school started teaching school in 1880 but closed 3 years later due to financial problems). Although not all residents worked within the various businesses, everyone who did contributed something important to help make life here go forward – whether it was selling goods or services or simply donating time or resources towards building community spirit or making things happen! It wasn’t long before people began calling this place home “Alpinah” because that was how they called their village back then too!
