The first coffee house in America was founded in 1675 by John Peter Zenger and his friend Nicholas-Jacques Conte. In 1795, French traders set up their own coffee house on Michigan Avenue in Detroit. By 1800, there were more than twenty thousand coffee houses operating throughout North America. Coffee became popularized in North America during the 1700s because of its bitter taste and ability to wake people up before dawn for work or school. American farmers adopted coffee as a way to increase production and make money. In 1839, J.P. Morgan started buying land for plantations near Columbia, Mississippi, which would become one of the largest plantations in history. Due to this business venture, Morgan is sometimes considered the founder of American Coffee Roasters (ACR). During World War II, café owners helped supply military bases with caffeine before they could be used for combat purposes. After the war ended, many cafés reopened and continue serving American soldiers until the late 1990s when they closed down due to economic reasons or lack of competition from other cafes across town

The history of coffee in Allen Park, Michigan begins with the first batch of beans being roasted and ground by a man named Harry Freeman in 1916. The beans were used to sell coffee beans door to door on the streets of Allen Park. The first store that bought coffee from Harry Freeman was called the Coffee House. In 1922, Harry Freeman's son, John Freeman, started buying and selling coffee from his father's business at 418 North Union Street. In 1924, John Freeman opened his own store at 434 Nw Pershing Avenue which became known as The Coffee House II. Between 1925-1927, Milton Hershey started importing Java Coffee Beans from Indonesia and selling them under the name Hershey's Coffee Company. From 1927-1929, Herman Wouk opened a grocery store next to The Coffee House II which became known as The Wouk Store. In 1931-1932, Clarence Kapp started purchasing roasting and grinding coffee beans from Harry Freeman and moving them into his new store at 520 Nw Third Avenue which becameknown as Kapp’s Café Roastery & Cafe.In 1937-1938, Dr. Jelliffe began purchasesing ground coffeebeans from John Freeman and moved them into his new building at 524 Nw First Ave., now known as Jelliffe’s Place. Allen Park is a city in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 97,851 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wayne County. The city is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The first European settlement in what is now Allen Park occurred in 1796 when three men from Pennsylvania founded a post on an island in the Ottawa River. They named their settlement after General James Wilkinson who had fought with them during the American Revolution. In 1807, General David Kalamazoo abandoned his post west of Allen Park and moved his army across the river to Fort Dearborn where he joined forces with Tecumseh and other Native Americans to drive Ulysses S. Grant's army out of Canada. In 1812, as part of Treaty Of Ghent, France ceded control over what is now Michigan to Great Britain; this included all of Wayne County including Allen Park beyond its present boundaries except for small areas near Brightwater and Stroudsburg which became part of Ottawa Township (now Richland Township) within Lesser Poland Parish east of Ionia City limits until 1824 when that township was abolished and merged into Muskegon Heights Township within Wayne County under new legislation creating township governments for both rural western Cass Corridor villages as well as Detroit proper; so Grand Rapids had become only one town in MI., while also losing access to key military installations like Mackinac Island through treaty negotiations between US negotiators John Leland and George Washington Irving that took place at Grosse Pointe Manor between July 9-11 1795 In 1825, following successful municipal elections held by newly formed township officials over objections from trustees appointed byKalamazoo Mayor David Dickinson because he felt they were not doing a good job (the first municipally elected officials in MI.), all but two blocks of downtown Allen Park were annexed by new municipality called "Muskegon Heights" which incorporated on November 1st 1825 despite strong opposition from residents who wanted their land back intact as part of their original village boundaries residency requirements for voting were tightenedened due to concerns about waste being brought into town from surrounding villages including Clairton and Gladwin Hills On December 5th 1830 voters passed a resolution calling for annexation by Hudsonville since it had been proposed earlier that year but no action was taken On January 1st 1861 citizens organized themselves into "Allen Park & Hollandtown Protective Association" to try and get annexation back again although there was heavy resistance from Hollandtown residents afraid that their enclave would become another side street off central business district like Gratiot or Seven Mile Road )On January 7th 1861 incorporation papers were filed with Wayne County government showing that Hollandtown had actually been added as an annexation rather than getting annexation back like initially proposed because Muskegon Heights authorities felt they could handle things better since they already had jurisdiction over most aspects outside the core village while Hollandtown residents thought they should keep their enclave even though it would be just a side street off busy central square) , Little India Creek became known locally as “Hollandtown Channel” because large quantitiesof high quality coal mined there came tumbling downriver each day trains pulled up at Grand Junction Railway Station on MLK Jr.'s Boulevard becoming known locally as “The Coal Train”

The city was founded in 1835 as a station on an early steamboat journey from Lake Huron to Chicago. The area now known as Allen Park was originally part of the Town of Bloomfield, which was established in 1824. The town was named for General James K. Polk, who served as the 25th president of the United States from 1845 to 1849. In 1871, the village of Bloomfield was organized and became a part of Allen Park. The population of Bloomfield increased rapidly after it incorporation, and in 1908, the village adopted a city charter. In 1914, Allen Park annexed the neighboring towns of Broadview Heights and Loyola Heights. The annexation added an additional 2 square miles toAllen Park's total area.
