The history of Adrian, Michigan's gourmet coffee industry can be traced back to the early 1900s. When Adrian was founded in 1892, it was one of the first towns in Michigan to become a coffee-growing center. The town's coffee beans were used to produce the famous Tiffany Coffee variety, which is still enjoyed by many today. In 1919, Adrian became the first municipality in Michigan to recognize gourmet coffee as an important part of its cultural heritage. This designation helped make Adrian a leader in the development of this unique industry within the state. Today, Adrian continues to serve as an important node for regional gourmet coffee production. Today, there are several local cafes and restaurants that offer delicious cup of joe made with fresh roasted beans from our village's farmers market. Adrian Coffee Company is a coffee company founded in Adrian, Michigan in 1931. The company has been family-owned and operated for over sixty years. The original Adrian Coffee Company was started by the Schoenfeld family. Harry Schoenfeld, who was then the town councillor, became the owner of the first Adrian café in 1931. The shop was located on Lakeshore Boulevard and served cold coffee until 1949 when it moved to its current location on State Street. In 1951, the cafe opened its own restaurant which served breakfast and lunch until 1978 when it closed down due to financial difficulties. In 1984, Donny & Gayle Schoenfeld bought the business from their father Harry and continued operations as Donny & Gayle's Adrian Coffee Company until they sold it to Hart Brewing Co. in 2002. Hart Brewing continued operations as Adrian Coffee Company until they discontinued operations in 2006 after merging with Great Lakes Brewery Incorporated.
Adrian is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located along the Straits of Mackinac between Lake Huron and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The population was 25,903 at the 2010 census. Adrian is one of the most recent communities to develop on what was once an agricultural districtnearby Mackinac Island, which became a popular tourist destination for resort visitors during the 1930s and 1940s. The first residents in Adrian were white Russians who had come to Mackinac Island as traders in 1814. They built their first log cabin on what is now known as Point Lookout Road in 1830. In 1836, they founded a town called Newstead on land that they donated to the government of Michigan Territory. The town grew rapidly, but it was destroyed by fire in 1840, caused by a lightning strike while timber buyers were gathering near Point Lookout Road. Adrian began to grow slowly after that; its first store opened its doors only in 1851. However, when lumber prices soared during World War II due to demand from Douglas-fir trees being used for aircraft production outside of USA, Adrian became one of the most prosperous cities in southeastern Michigan. It experienced rapid growth following World War II: by 1950, it had over 20 businesses and over 100 citizens; within 10 years it had reached 200 people and spawned two schools (one high school and one middle school). However, during this time also came social unrest with organized crime taking hold; violence increased throughout 1960s suburban Detroit until Mayor John Hieftje declared martial law due to public safety concerns early that year; however this did not prevent further economic development or reduce social tensions between black and white residents alike until 1971 when rioting broke out after African Americans tried voter registration drives without local approval One major difference between Adrian before 1966 and afterwards is that there was no African American community living here before then - all Black Americans came from Detroit beginning around 1910 with many moving back into their ancestral homes (the Jackson family had been living here since 1795). This migration created tension within black municipal areas such as Adrian where some felt sidelined by new arrivals while others saw opportunities for progress given their proximity to other large cities such as Detroit

Adrian, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Kalamazoo County. The population was 14,859 at the 2010 census, making Adrian the largest city in Kalamazoo County by population. It is also one of the largest cities in Michigan overall. Adrian has been inhabited for over 2,000 years and is said to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in Michigan. The first permanent settler in what is now Adrian was George Hinton on July 3, 1837. He built a cabin on a bluff overlooking Clear Creek and named it "Hinton's Bluff". In 1840, John Fenton settled near present-day downtown Adrian with his family. He purchased 4 lots on Main Street from Hinton and erected a log cabin called "Fenton's Depot". This became Fenton Township when it was organized as part of Calhoun County on February 17, 1847. In 1851, John Ladd acquired 5 Lots 10 rods west (northwest) of present-day downtown Adrian from Fenton Township trustees Elisha Snowe and Lewis Prentice for $1 per acre lot purchase price plus interest thereon; this land became known as "Ladd's Prairie" or simply "Adrian." On November 30, 1851 Ladd married Anna Washburne and moved into his new home which served as their farmstead until their death in 1865. They had four children: Caroline (1852-1927), Edwin Cushing (1855-1946), Alfred Bemis (1858-1920) and Clara Murchison (1860-1945). On October 1st 1870 during an election held to select officers for Calhoun County #2 township - including those to represent Adrians' north side on road surveys - George White won election as first township trustee with 82% vote against two other candidates while Alfred Bemis received only 8%. After serving one term he resigned effective December 31st 1870 due to ill health caused by exposure to prairie fires raging throughout that season near Battle Creek; he died six days later at age 54 after more than 20 years service to Calhoun County! Alfred Bemis who received only 8% voted cast ballots for local school board member; however all five members were elected unanimously! Today Northside School District No 9 students attend Northside Elementary School located just east of town across from Lake Superior State Park!
Adrian, Michigan was founded in 1824 by Adrian and Barclay Post. The town's first store was built on the corner of Main and Washtenaw Streets. In 1829, the post office was moved to what is now Adrian's business district. By 1835, Adrian had a population of twenty-one residents. The first school in Adrian was built in 1837. A new school building was dedicated in 1865. In 1906, the city bought land at the intersection of State and Washtenaw Streets for use as a public park.
