The Coast Guard gift history begins with the creation of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1915. This group of people helped to support and maintain the coastline in Adrian. In 1937, the Coast Guard purchased its own station on Harbor Island. This allowed for more efficient patrols of the area and also made it easier for residents to get access to help when needed. In 1951, the coast guard acquired a second station on Harbor Island making it even more difficult for smugglers to enter into this area. All three stations were eventually abandoned in the late 1970s but are still visible today from across town.

Adrian is a small town in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, United States. The population was 3,890 at the 2000 census. Adrian is located about 26 miles (41 km) south of Detroit and about 18 miles (29 km) north of Lansing. It is part of the Lansing-based City of Wayne County. The first recorded inhabitants of Adrian were three brothers, Peter, Paul, and Andrew who arrived on a boat from England on October 8, 1803. They built the first log cabin in what is now Adrian. At that time it was known as "Oak Hill", because there were oak trees near the original site where they built their cabin. The first post office in Adrian was established on October 16, 1806 by George Washington Morrison with Patrick McNamara as his Postmaster General. In 1808, John McLaughlin settled here after moving from Canada with his family to start a farm named Stillwater near present-day Ottawa Township. In 1810 he married Anna Loughlin and set up housekeeping hereabouts before coming back east to start again another farm in Ottawa Township some years later which he named Loughlinstown after Anna’s father – also John McLaughlin Sr.. When he died suddenly at age 71 in 1830 his widow moved back to her old home until death did him part seven years later when she moved into her son’s home following his death too young at 82). After John McLaughlin’s death two other families lived here for awhile before leaving for other parts of Michigan: one went to Batavia (now Traverse City), One became farmers nearpresent day Hollandale and One became farmers around present day Russellville but all eventually left due to lack of land or support from their new settlement counterparts There are still several descendants living today scattered throughout many counties across America including Adrian MI Including my husband Michael who resides currently in East Troy IL After this initial waves of settlers had come and gone various storekeepers opened up businesses such as feed stores, general stores etc., until 1850 when an oil well was found just outside town limits making oil production an important factor affecting community development. A post office was established at this point called "Oil Springs" which remained in operation until 1861 when it was renamed "Adrian." With continued growth came more housing developments such as the McClaughnan House erected adjacent to what is now Wesso Drive; Mrs McClaughnan's livelihood depended largely upon her husband's wages supplemented by occasional donations from local people whether rendering services or providing eggs during times Of drought so essential then were food storage areas nearby while residences grew larger surrounded by gardens complete with cisterns supplying water not only for residents but also livestock needed for farming purposes astill becoming quite selfsufficient over time although retail enterprises slowly replaced these agricultural activities through out the community turning adrian into just another small Midwestern town albeit one enjoying increased national attention via television programs like "The Beverly Hillbillies" This influx however didn't last long given that decline began soon afterwards followed by further economic decline culminating with a loss attributed mainly to natural disasters such as floods along withutonumerous wars fought nearby both against Native Americans and European troops resultingin numerous homes being destroyedor abandoned making it difficult for localsostill living today despite advances made since then notably thru efforts by local government entities like AdriaanMuseum formed jointly between public/private partners latterly funded thru private donations Adrian saw its heyday during World War II when bomber training activity took place operations centered around nearby Mound Lake giving rise to later nickname 'the happy hour capital' due even todayto annual fireworks show opposite downtown featuring local talent annually
Adrian, Michigan was founded in 1834 by Adrian C. Marshall as a trading post on the Muskegon River. It was named after Adrian's father, who had also founded the town of Adrian, Michigan. The first post office was established in 1835 and was called "Marshall". In 1839, the town of Adrian merged with the village of Howell to form the present-day city of Adrian. The first school in Adrian was built in 1837.
