In 1907, an Italian immigrant named Angelo Bruno opened his own espresso restaurant called La Bottega Bianca located on Main Street near King’s Chapel Cemetery. La Bottega Bianca quickly became popular among Westfield locals for their great espresso beverages and creative pastries. In 1928, entrepreneur Harry Henniker founded Henniker’s Coffee Company with his brother-in-law Gus Frischmann in order to provide high-quality coffee at a fraction of the price typical retail stores were charging. At first, Henniker’s Coffee Company only sold single origin beans from select roasters such as Peet’s & Sons and Three Sisters Roasters. However, over time Henniker’s Coffee Company began stocking more than just single origins; they also offered flavored coffees (such as chocolate or hazelnut) and decaf variants of their regular blends. In the early 1960s, Harry Henniker passed away and his son John took over running the business until John's death in 2003. After John's death, continuing family patriarch Norma Heineke took over operations until her retirement in 2011; under her direction, Westfield's first ever self-serve grocery store was built next door to The Green Gables Cafe where customers could purchase their morning cup of Joe from Norma herself! There are now several talented individuals who oversee East Coast roast operations at Hennikers Coffee Company including executive pastry chef Michele Plourde; marketing manager Lisa Cohen; office manager Jenna Koppelman; service technician Ryan Jansen and barista extraordinaire Matt Mueller! Hudson Valley native Danica Kirka currently leads all aspects of roasted bean production while Paul Larkin oversees brewing processes occurring within our network of small batch brewers throughout New England! In 1893, an American named John Watson started a small business called The Bean Shop in Seattle, Washington, which became the first store to sell whole bean coffee. In 1971, The Bean Shop merged with another small business named Starbucks, which gave birth to the modern-day Starbucks experience.
Westfield is a town in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Westfield was first settled by English Puritans in 1639. The first post office was established in 1642 and the first store opened in 1645. In 1795, a sawmill was built and began to produce lumber for construction in Springfield and other towns in the area. By 1811, Westfield had a school, Baptist church, blacksmith shop, three hotels (the First National Bank building still stands), two churches (one with an early iron furnace), one grocery store and one dozen stores; its population reached 1,500 people. In 1847-1848, during the American Revolution as part of General George Washington's army camped at Westfield while they skirmished with British forces near Lexington Heights on April 10-12th (This event is also known as "The Battle of Bunker Hill"), some residents decided to start a new town called Lanesborough which would serve as their winter home while they awaited word from Boston that they were not captured or killed during battle like many others who had volunteered for military service under General Washington. On May 12th/13th about 50 people met at Nathan Hale's house on what is now Meetinghouse Road east of present day Cedar Street to form the nucleus of what would be Lanesborough; thus beginning its history even though it never received official recognition from Boston until after its incorporation into Berkshire County on November 6th 1849." "Lanesborough soon became popular among local farmers because it offered more spacious lots than did neighboring Salisbury or Northampton and could be bought much cheaper than either village could build." "The Panic of 1837 destroyed most businesses in western Massachusetts but Lanesborough survived thanks to contributions made by members of its board of directors including future Congressman Samuel Adams." "For many years Lanesborough functioned as a sleepy hamlet with only one store and one family running it; however starting around World War II when large numbers of women started working outside the home due to advances in technology things began to change." "In recent decades there has been an increasing trend towards revamping downtown Westfield into something more like a modern city center with high-rise buildings addition onto shopping strips along Center Street between JFK Boulevard and Third Street – making it easy to get around without going too far down Centre Street itself."
Westfield is a town in Massachusetts, United States. The population was 24,541 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Westfield were the Algonquian-speaking Pocomtots who settled there around 1775. They were joined by other Native Americans such as the Pequot and Narragansett during this time, as well as English settlers from England. In 1834, a group of farmers led by Andrew Quincy moved to what is now Westfield from nearby Northampton. The village of Westfield was founded on November 3, 1834, when Northampton voters authorized a three-man committee to propose that they establish a town center in the village's millrace leading westward from Anthony Wayne Boulevard (present day Dudley Street). On December 12, 1835, the first post office was established in Westfield with John Doherty as its first clerk. That same year saw also the founding of schools: one for boys and one for girls. In 1840, Worcester County officials approved plans for an agricultural college in what would become Westfield but it never came to be; instead it became known as Worcester Agricultural School until 1888 when it became Wright State Teachers College. A new courthouse was completed in 1907 and served as both court house and civic center until it burned down in 1961; however, its replacement still stands today within walking distance of downtownWestfield.
