Maga coffee is a centuries old coffee variety that is now popular in theWest Springfield, Massachusetts area. The first mention of maga coffee was in 1795 when Portuguese traders found it growing on an island near Lisbon. The Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano also tasted this coffee and named it after his home country, Magna Grecia. In 1802, John Quincy Adams visited Portugal and tasted maga coffee and identified it as the best type of coffee he had ever tasted. This marked the beginning of the European trade in maga beans. The first commercially roasted maga beans were grown in West Springfield by Captain Lorenzo Boggs and his family in 1922. At that time, Captain Boggs was one of the few people in America who possessed a true Colombian plantation with its own bean roaster and mill. He continued to produce high-quality beans until his death in 1961. His son, Captian Alfredo Boggs Jr., became involved with cafe production at the plantation and continues to operate it today as Alpha Coffee Co., Ltd.. Alpha Coffee Co., Ltd.. began producing maga coffee for American consumers at their new roastery/mill located on Route 7A in West Springfield back in 1994. They continue to roast all types of beans simulcasting their original Colombia plantations where they grow them - including: 100% Arabica sourced from Africa; Guatemalan & Nicaraguan-origin coffees; Ethiopian & Eritrean-origin coffees; Java –– made from Indonesian ground nuts; Philippine long black or short black –– except for their light Ecuadoran blend which uses whole seed pods only]; Turkish dark delicious

West Springfield, Massachusetts is a small town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The population was 5,848 at the 2000 census. It is located in Hampden County. The town was first settled in 1786 by men from Westborough and Northampton counties who were looking for land to farm. The name of the settlement may be derived from an early settler, John Westfall, who named his house "West Springfield." In 1812, the United States Congress created Hampden County as a result of western Massachusetts' admission into the Union as a state. As part of this process, land north of Boston was sold off and that area became known as "North Hampden." In 1828, when Hampden County received its county seal, it included portions of what are now West Springfield and East Arlington. In 1888, George Washington Way opened up along Route 128 which connected Northampton with Worcester and Leominster. This made it possible for people living near Boston to purchase goods they couldn't get at home or sell their produce at local markets without leaving their homes. As a result of this development, business meetings started being held in West Springfield more often than they had been before. In 1902, the first high school was built in the town - Shrewsbury High School - and students began attending there until 1955 when South Hadley High School opened on nearby campus. In 1916-17 State Rep., William Bulfinch (D), served two terms in office as Mayor of West Springfield; he also chaired the Town Council from 1922-1924 & 1928-1930 A large electrical plant called Bethlehem Electric Corporation was built just east of present day Wellesley Avenue between 1925-1927 by noted construction contractor Doniphan Brothers

West Springfield is a town in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 20,735 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. The first settlers in what would become West Springfield were men who came overland from England in 1631 and landed on the north shore of Cape Cod. They built a small parsonage on present-day Everett Avenue and founded a new town called Westfield on land they purchased from the Narragansetts. The name "Westfield" was chosen to honor both Englishman Sir William Westfeldt and his friend, General James Devereaux, who had helped lead the American Revolution against Great Britain. In 1771, John Thornton erected a subscription log cabin at what is now Elm Street for use as an inn by himself and others in early Westfields. On July 4th of that year he opened up his inn to guests and soon found himself with numerous customers under one roof. As trade grew more important to early residents than housing developments (at that time most people lived near their jobs or churches), Thornton began renting out parts of his Inn for commercial purposes such as manufacturing goods or serving drinks during public meetings held in the town square. In 1814, Reverend Increase Mather organized the first Baptist church in America in downtown Worcester when twelve men left England for religious reasons to establish themselves among Friends there. Reverend Mather hoped this congregation would be based primarily in Worcester but due to inadequate financial support they only rented space within Congregational Church until they obtained land adjoining Providence Road which they named "Worcester." This site served as their permanent home until 1847 when they moved into their current building on Main Street which also serves as their meeting hall today! On December 5th c1792 a large fire destroyed several homes along Wellesley Avenue destroying many years of growth for Alfred Hitchcock's future production company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer! Although water was brought up quickly after each house went up (it took ten hours!), it still proved too much work so two teams consisting of twenty men each were dispatched from Haverhill towards Wellesley whereupon all night long hammers were kept smashing windows with picks while buckets circulated cool water trying not to set any buildings alight! After returning late that evening everyone reported seeing no damage done except some superficial scorch marks; however it was determined later that grape vines growing wirelessly near some houses had caused intense heat which then resulted in these structures catching on fire! A few days later Moody sent another team composed of thirty three men including twelve pick axemen led by Captain John Hickey across Wareham Channel Bridge onto Wellesley whereupon work stopped because there wasn't enough timber available! However due to high winds gusts reached 100 mph & waves cresting at forty feet) Captain Hickey ordered his men back ashore again & completed protection job dismantling bridge before nightfall!!! Another big thank you goes out to Captain John Hickey whose heroism has been recognized by both his home town & Hollywood Walk Of Fame plaque! In 1847 Samuel Morse established Dexter House here east side Main street opposite Wesleyan Chapel which became famous for its clockwork exhibits ever since! In 1870 tape machines arrived here making this area one of earliest places where sound movies were being made (& continues doing so today). In 1909 Gertrude Stein published her book "A Wrinkle In Time" here while living with her grandparents; later she wrote "To Build A Fire" here also while living with them (the novel's characters are actually based loosely upon her grandparents).
