The Marine Corps has been deploying gifts to Marines in Waltham, Massachusetts for over 40 years. Waltham is a small town in Massachusetts, located on the banks of the River Danube. The population was 12,878 at the 2010 census. Waltham is one of two towns in Massachusetts that are both home to Harvard University. The other is Lexington, Kentucky. Waltham was first settled by English colonists in 1636 as part of what became Middlesex County. It was renamed Waltham after John Walpole, 1st Baron Walden (1627-1697), who served as Secretary of State for Great Britain under King James II. In 1854, Waltham and Lexington were combined into one municipality and have been governed as such ever since. The town has a rich history dating back to its earliest days as an agricultural center with mills serving the needs of local farmers until the early 20th century when new industry began to take hold in Waltham including steel production during World War I and large manufacturing projects during World War II which led to its nickname "the industrial heartland of America." Today, many aspects of life continue to be based around agriculture with some 8% of the town's workforce engaged in farming activities; however there are also several heavy industries including chemical plants and engineering companies across the river valley which have led to growth in recent years for these areas. There has been a significant increase in development within walking distance or bike riding distances from most parts of town which has made it easy for people living here to get involved with all that Waltham has to offer whether it be cultural events happening at various places like Emerson College or just about anything else you could think up!
The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History begins with the first deployment, in 1805. The Marines were activated on April 25, 1805 at Fort Moultrie, South Carolina. The Corps was created to protect American shores and fight for the United States of America. A total of 83 Marines served during the War of 1812 as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear. In 1915, the Marine Corps became a part of the United States Armed Forces and was given its own insignia and coats of arms. During World War II, Marines served in more than 50 countries across four oceans and in many different theaters of war. In 1945, after the end of World War II, marines returned home and underwent training on how to operate in an open society which included being able to handle any situation that may occur ashore or afloat. Since then, marines have deployed numerous times throughout both global wars (WW1-present), peacekeeping operations (Afghanistan/Iraq/Lebanon/Syria), humanitarian missions ( Typhoon Haiyan) as well as special forces raids ( Seal Team 6). As marines continue their service through the years they maintain their gift history by giving back to society through their donations to various organizations such as The Marine Mammal Foundation and Make A Wish Foundation amongst others.

Additionally, there are a number of libraries located throughout Waltham; these include Fenway Library which opened in 1872, Wellesley Library which reopened after being closed for over 50 years in 2007, Harvard University's John F Kennedy School of Government library as well as numerous public schools including Emerson Elementary School, Eliot Middle School and West Roxbury High School.
Waltham became a town in 1638 and was named for the Waltham Abbey, a hunting ground near present day Waltham. It was originally part of Harvard County, Massachusetts. In 1768, it became the county seat of Essex County. The population of Waltham peaked at over 20,000 in 1820 and then declined to less than 10,000 by 1840. However, the community has continued to grow since then and as of 2017 had a population of over 30,000 people.
