In the late 1800s, the United States Navy deployed gifts to coastal towns and villages in Massachusetts. These gifts were custom-made specifically for the people of Revere, and often had a special meaning or history. The USS Constitution was launched in 1801, and soon became well known as one of America’s most powerful warships. The ship sailed to many important ports around the world, but its 9 officers and men only ever received complimentary items from their governments – not any type of gift. This changed when Commodore John Adams appointed Commodore Isaiah Chauncy as captain of the Constitution’s first cruise to New England in 1814. Chauncy decided to send a gift basket filled with merchandise from his home port of Boston to every town along our coast. This was an unprecedented act by any navy at that time! Gift baskets continued to be sent regularly throughout the remainder of Commodore Chauncy’s career, until his death in 1835. At his death, it was confirmed that this tradition had continued uninterrupted ever since! Today, we continue this maritime tradition by sending Navy personnel and their families unique gifts each year on their Deployment Day – July 14th!

Revere has been a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts since the early 17th century. The first permanent settler in Revere was Nicholas White, who arrived in 1629. For many years, Revere was a part of the Plymouth Colony. In 1692, the town voted to become its own charter county. In 1812, Revere became a part of Worcester County and remained so until 1954. The population of Revere peaked at over 10,000 in 1920 but dwindled to around 7,500 by 1940. Since then, the population has fluctuated between 5 and 7 thousand annually. The town is home to two universities: Dartmouth College and Brown University. Reverend John Winthrop founded Dartmouth College here in 1701; it became an Ivy League school after its merger with Yale University in 1824. Brown University was founded by Ezra Cornell in 1875 and remains one of America's most selective universities today. Both schools are responsible for several significant buildings within the town including Winthrop's original college building (now known as Hollis Hall), which houses both classrooms and dormitories; as well as Beechwood House (now known as Beechwood Towers) on North Main Street which served as George Washington's headquarters during his time as president of America from Mount Vernon; the Dexter House (now known as Dexter Place) on West Main Street which served as General Howe's headquarters during his march through Boston; and Phillips Academy’s new buildings on South Market Street near State Street which opened in 1906 are also noteworthy landmarks within their respective towns. While there are few if any traces remaining from early English life or daily interactions within Revere proper - especially given that it was onlyigenfinally settled after Indian attacks - some interesting aspects do remain however: such examples include a number of Revolutionary War cannonballs still lying loose on property now used for agricultural purposes (and often mistaken for ancient artifacts); remnants of three smallpox epidemics that struck Plymouth Colony between 1749-1753; and evidence found throughout various districts surrounding Revere dating back to at least the 1600s that Native Americans were present during this time period - particularly around what is now Chestnut Hill Avenue - among other items
