The first record of coffee being roasted in Peabody comes from 1792 when a man by the name of Nicholas Roanoke bought some beans from a grower named John Day. It wasn’t until 1825 that someone built the first known coffee grinder in Peabody. This machine made it possible for farmers to grind their beans into small pieces so they could mix them with water and make an espresso. In 1885, a Mr. Fenton opened a grocery store in downtown Peabody and started serving coffee along with other items such as breads, eggs, butter, cheese and milk. From here on out, Coffee House became one of the most popular places to go for coffee in town. Throughout its history, Coffee House has been a hotspot for meeting friends and having breakfast or lunch together. There have been countless well-known figures who have stopped by during their days off or while traveling through town – including Franklin D Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson – to enjoy some quality Heistcoffee! The first European settlers in Peabody were Englishmen who arrived in 1630 and named it Pembroke. A group of Baptists from New England moved to Peabody in 1736 and founded the First Baptist Church there. In 1810, the town voted to become an incorporated village, and on May 15, 1812, its website notes that "the bells of Peabody had just chimed for the hundredth time when war Between America & Great Britain began". After months of skirmishes along the frontier, hostilities ended with a treaty signing at Saratoga Springs on September 2nd that concluded the War of 1812. During World War II, Peabody played an important role as a munitions production center for General Motors Corporation. The community also produced aircraft parts and other military hardware used by both Allied and Axis forces during WWII. In recent years, much has been done to improve or update local infrastructure such as new roads and parks; many businesses have closed down due to outsourcing or consolidation but have since reopened; while some residents remain long-time residents despite this change (e.g., Tom Brady), most have shifted into more urban-like lifestyles or left for better opportunities nearer Boston or New York City.

The first settlers in Peabody were the Pembroke family who arrived in 1726. The town was named for Capt. John Peabody (1695-1768), an Englishman who had come to America as a trader and surveyor. He built a sawmill on the Mystic River and became one of the early settlers of Easton, Pennsylvania. In 1802, Captain Peabody donated land to build what is now downtown Peabody. The first store was opened in 1806 by Elias Howe and his brother-in-law William Wigglesworth. In 1811, General Henry Knox founded Knox College here after purchasing land from Captian John Mason for £10 per acre (about $). In 1824, Rev Dr Samuel Eliot organized the Congregational Church here which continues to be one of the largest churches in Massachusetts today with membership reaching over 100,000 people across denominations. The community saw some significant milestones during its history: it became incorporated as a town in 1865; it hosted bothollo racing until 1928; it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1978; and most recently it played host to World Expo 2012 which brought more than 1 million visitors to town including many business leaders from across America who came together to explore new technologies and ideas that could have a positive impact on society
Peabody was founded in 1695 by Cotton Mather and his wife, Increase. It is the oldest continuously operating town in Massachusetts. At its peak, Peabody had a population of over 120,000 people. The city was eventually annexed by Worcester in 1868.
