In the 1940s, the Peabody Coffee Company merged with the Boston Coffee Company to form the Boston Coffee Corporation. In 1984, the Boston Coffee Corporation was acquired by Starbucks.
Peabody is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 11,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Worcester-Fallon (MA) Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Peabody was Captain John Smith on his 16th voyage of Discovery in 1607. The first settler and namesake of Peabody was Nicholas Peabody who arrived in 1795 from Rhode Island. The town's earliest settlers were local farmers who started to arrive in numbers around 1820 after construction of the Quincy and Pittsfield Railroad made transportation more accessible to them. By 1825, over 100 people lived in Peabodied; it had a school and store as well as several houses and a church. In 1827, the New England Society for Promoting Christianity sent Reverend John Ladd to serve as pastor of the new Congregational Church in Peabody. At that time there were only a few churches across Massachusetts due to political correctness then which discouraged religious affiliation among citizens on Behalf Of Government Officials or Politicians. In 1870, work began on developing what would become Peabody into an agricultural center due to its location between Boston and Worcester along with its fertile soil and cold winters. Development continued until 1916 when all but two buildings were destroyed by fire during a barnstorming tour by George Eastman film company executives looking for footage for their films about American agriculture called "The coming of civilization". Thanks largely to World War I efforts by General Electric Company president Charles Fenton Welch Jr., peat production resumed at full steam starting in 1923 thanks also to plans by GE's vice president for marketing Wm Tilden Redding that Midwest farmers should not buy expensive wheat from Canada because transportation costs there would be prohibitively high compared with shipping rates needed for getting foodstuffs up North through ice packs and packers like those used down South Peninsula states such as Florida etc.. This led directly to increased demand both domestically (by Americans), especially since1920s peanut prices had been depressed by effectiveness of marketing campaigns waged against European Union embargoed produce In 1932 General Electric built an electrical substation just east of town which helped increase pea production during hard times caused by global depression while other companies like Ford Motor Co., Chrysler Corp., GMC Truck Co., Singer Sewing Machine co., Allis Chalmers Incorporated responded with contributions towards erection/repair/replacement of electric power lines & water systems throughout entire village thru 1933 season when energy crisis ended

The Peabody Clock Company was founded in 1846 by Zenas Guralnick and his brother Isaac Guralnick Jr., who also founded Waltham Watch Factory . The clock company produced clocks for many years before it went bankrupt in 1907; its assets were sold to Hirschfeld & Co., a New York watch manufacturer, which continued production until 1957. *In 1906 the town voted to annex Arlington Heights as part of its growth but this annexation did not take place because Arlington Heights had no vote within the town itself
