Newburyport is a town in Massachusetts, United States. The population was 9,644 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. Newburyport is bordered on the south by Quincy, on the east by Amherst and Lexington, on the north by Northampton and Westford, and on the west by Watertown. They began making hats and other headwear products from cloth imported from Great Britain but soon expanded into other items such as Hosiery & Threadbare Clothing AG., later known as Macy's Incorporated; one of America's largestcloth merchants since colonial times In 1827 they moved to 5 Broadwalk where they continued to operate until purchased by Sears & Roebuck Incorporated in 1903 This made them America’s second largest retailer behind J P Morgan & Co.. There are several significant buildings still standing from this period including: The First Congregational Church – rebuilt following fire damage ; Nathan Hale House – originally built for General Nathanael Greene; The Masonic Temple – completed in 1840 after extensive renovations; Park avenue Baptist Church – built between 1830-34 for Reverend George Ticknor; Grosse Pointe Farms Race Course - opened circa 1860; Brookline Market - commenced operation circa 1850 On October 15th 1861 during American Civil War Battle Of Beacon Hill Union forces led by Colonel John Stark attacked Confederate forces under General Daniel Webster at Beacon Hill killing over 40 soldiers while losing only 3 men themselves Among these killed was Captain Samuel Morse who had been leading Yankee artillery regiment called “The Essex Boys” commanded by Colonel Stark
