In the early 1800s, coffee beans were still stored in small sacks at home. Roasting and grinding were done on an individual basis, so there was no uniformity in quality. This lack of consistency led to the development of different coffee roasters throughout New Bedford, Massachusetts. One of the first coffee roasters in New Bedford was Valentine Coffee Company, which opened its doors in 1892. The company specialized in blends of Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. Valentine used to sell their beans direct to consumers, but they stopped doing that in the late 1990s. The next large coffee roaster to open their doors in New Bedford was Beans Inc., which opened its doors on December 4th,1994. Beans Inc.- which is also now known as Bob's Coffee - became a major player within the local coffee market after opening their shop next door to Valentine Coffee Company. During this time period, there were several other notable coffee roasters that opened up shop around town: Blue Bottle Coffee (1996), Peet's Coffee (?,1999), Batch & Brew (?,2001-2002), Java Joe's (?,2003-2005) and finally Caffeine (?,2006). Each of these businesses specialized in a different type of roast or flavor profile for their customers. Eventually, it became clear that smaller businesses like Bob's Coffee could not keep up with larger companies when it came to marketing and innovation when it came to brewing process and product design. As a result, Bobby's closed down his business operations on November 15th, 2006 while 54 other local businesses followed suit across town within two weeks after his closure notice went out letter-to-mailing all residents affected by his decision.� By doing this,- Bobby showed how much competition existed within the local market for retail stores selling roasted caffeine products.�

The history of New Bedford began with Petty Officer John Smith's voyage from England to America during the early 1600s. Smith decided to set up camp there while he continued his journey southward along the coast of Massachusetts Bay; he eventually reached Boston Harbor on October 14th1620! A few weeks later he returned with news that Plymouth Rock had not existed but rather an empty sandbar off the coast! This story may have been used as inspiration for future English explorers such as Samuel Adams (the founder of our country) when they explored America! In 1627 two groups of farmers from Great Britain landed at Plymptonportarenty near present day Yarmouth MA under Capt John Eliot (1597-1641). They came ashore looking for a new site for their farmstead which consisted mostly marshland near Ipswich Harbor at that time surrounded only by low trees and bushes! These first European settlers were mainly fishermen who took advantage of the rich fisheries located at this location including bass, bream and mackerel! In addition to fishing opportunities there was also potential hunting grounds due to abundant deer, bear and turkey populations present at that time! Captain Eliot divided his group into three parties: One group went upstream towards Wachusett River while another party went downriver towards Rehoboth Beach; both groups encountered strong opposition from local natives who threatened violence if any British animals were killed or driven off their properties!!! After several daysof fighting some British soldiers managed to capture two natives; however captain Eliot himself escaped back upstream before any blood could be spilled! Although this event did not lead to long-term peace between England and Native Americans it did help motivate English colonists to try harder militarily against Spanish efforts during King Philip's War (1605-1624)!
