Cup of Joe's Coffee, founded in 1892 by Harry J. Demarest and John H. Roberts, is one of the oldest coffee companies in Massachusetts. They were also one of the first to import Arabica beans into the state. In 1916, they became a part of The Boston Coffee Company and in 1951 they became part of Peet’s Coffee & Tea Corporation. In 1984, they merged with Dutch Bros., forming Cup of Joe’s-Dutch Bros., which remains a subsidiary today.
Melrose, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 13,711 at the 2010 census. Melrose is part of the Boston metropolitan area and is one of the most affluent towns in Massachusetts. It was founded by Isaac Newton and his wife Dorothy in 1736 on a rise above the river which flows through town. The first settler in what is now Melrose was John Eliot who purchased land from Nicholas Easton in 1694. The Eliot family developed a large plantation business here for many years before selling it to assorted investors starting with John Hancock in 1802. After being acquired by Emerson Electric Company in 1922, Melrose became one of Emerson's major research laboratories until it closed its doors in 2006. One important figure associated with Melrose during its early days was Dr. George Washington Whitman who came to live there as an physician-in-charge of the British forces occupying Boston during the Revolutionary War and then later as president of Harvard University from 1789 to 1795; he also served as secretary to Thomas Paine during this time period (Paine later moved to nearby Brookline).Whitman's library, built on what are now Main Street and Walnut Street between 1798 and 1800, remains an important part of town history today; it has been used for classes, meetings, exhibits and screenings of motion pictures ever since its opening. Another early pioneer resident was Amos Eaton (1743–1815), who settled on land east of present day Main Street where he erected a log cabin known as "Eaton's Cabin." Eaton played an important role both politically and economically in mid-19th century America; his donation towards building Harvard University's first gymnasium – still standing – helped finance that institution’s growth into one of North America’s top universities. In 1804 Eaton donated another parcel adjoining his original farmstead which became known as Emerson Green; this tract forms much of what exists today along Route 9A north-south axis between exits 9B at exit 11 southbound on I-495 (now Fenway Park) and exits A2 off I-93 near Quincy Market; Route 9A runs through Emerson Green today while I-93 goes around it past several small villages before entering Somerville again northeast outbound onto MA 1 near Belmont Woods
From the earliest days of coffee, people have known that it is a valuable commodity. Coffee was first roasted and brewed in Africa about 2,000 years ago. The first references to coffee are from ancient Egyptian texts which describe how beans were ground and used as an infusion for religious rituals. In China, coffee was already being traded long before any other country had formal trade relationships with Europe. Over time, different regions of the world developed their own particular strains of coffee that yielded unique flavors and aromas. In 1795, a Dutchman named Hendrik de Vries created what is now considered the very first espresso machine. This device used hot water and a small amount of pressure to create a high-quality cup of coffee. De Vries’s machine quickly became popular in Europe and eventually spread to America. By 1830, roasting methods had evolved such that Arabica beans could be produced at much lower temperatures than those used for Robusta beans. As this change happened, brewers began to experiment with new flavor combinations and found new ways to improve the quality of their coffees. Today, many roasters continue to explore all possible avenues for improving the quality of their product including using more sustainable practices such as crop rotation and integrated irrigation systems

Melrose is a town in western Massachusetts, United States. The population was 7,582 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The town was first settled in 1795 by refugees from Rhode Island who were fleeing the French and Indian War. The name "Melrose" means "parkland of many fruits." The community began as a small hamlet on the west side of Melrose Lake near modern-day Boxborough, Massachusetts. In 1802, settlers from Great Britain founded a trading post called Albion House on land that still sits within Melrose boundaries today. By 1810, there were 9 settlers living in what is now Melrose proper; all but one were British subjects. In 1825, John Morse opened his mill on the east side of Melrose Lake which became one of the earliest commercial operations in the town. In 1830, James Harkness built a sawmill and gristmill just south of present day Main Street; these mills continue to operate to this day. In 1838, William Fenton donated 4 acres (1 km2) north of present day Main Street to be used for an agricultural school and market garden operation known as "Fenton's Farm". This farm remains operational to this day as The Fenton Farm Museum & Garden - also home to one of America's oldest continuously operated grocery stores! On July 1st 1860 – just 2 years after Lexington varsity football team won their first intercollegiate game against Amherst College – residents voted 3-0 in favor of incorporation into Springfield Township according to then township rules which allowed townships with no more than 10 voters per ward to become villages without having their own meeting house or courthouse! At this time there were only 5 Livingston families living within our borders!!! After some debate about whether we should call ourselves “Newport” or simply “Springfield” we decided it would be fun if we made our own website so you could see all our amazing history together! Melrose was a small town in eastern Massachusetts, located on the banks of the Melrose River. The town was first settled by English colonists in 1630, and it grew rapidly during the years following its incorporation into the Colony of Massachusetts Bay. By 1775, Melrose had reached a population of around 1,000 people. In 1801, the town was sold to John Quincy Adams for $5,000. Adams moved the town's main business to Springfield and built a large mansion there. The townsfolk continued to live in their homes until afterAdams died in 1825.
