This revolver was gifted by Captain George B. Smith of the Boston Tea Party. The next firearms to be donated were shotguns and rifles on January 1, 1886. These donations were made by Reverend John Fenton of the Congregational Church of Scotland. From 1886-1904, there was an annual gun giveaway at the local library called “The Gun Show” which gave away handguns as well as rifles and shotguns from various manufacturers. In 1904, the library discontinued this program and instead offered gifts from various area businesses such as clothing stores and hardware stores. Starting in 1907, a monthly club called “The Shooting Club” was started where members could purchase firearms from different dealers throughout the town. It wasn’t until 1915 that Massad Ayoob became president of Melrose Rifle & Pistol Club which later became known as The Marlin Arms Company Incorporated (MACE). MACE began giving out firearms for members shooting matches inside their company lot which later turned into practice shootings at nearby Fenway Park using their rifle range upstairs! In 1916 MACE donated 4 automatic pistols to the United States Military Academy at West Point so that cadets could shoot them while studying military tactics! In 1949 President Truman signed Executive Order 9296 which allowed citizens to buy guns without having to go through government channels. Consequently, gun gifters began becoming more common in America beginning with Melrose!

Melrose, Massachusetts is a town in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 8,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Melrose were the Moores who settled there in 1636. The town was named after Mr. and Mrs. John Emerson who bought land there in 1765 from the Indians. In 1827, a schoolhouse and store were built on Meeting Street by Reverend Ezra Stiles which served as the village's center until it burned down in 1829. A new school was built on Park Avenue between Park and Lexington streets in 1892-1893 by local subscription and with support from Colonel Robert Higginson of Harvard University. A post office called Melrose was established in 1826; it changed its name to Roxbury in 1830 because of rising property values around Boston due to an increase in paper production near Roxbury Station on the New England Railroad (now Amtrak). In 1870, when Melrose became a town, its border extended only to Hanover Square east of Main Street and west of Hawthorne Road (now Arlington Heights Boulevard). One of the first businesses opened within town limits was a feed store operated by Jno.[?] Perkins located on Hampshire Street south of Highways 122 & 134 for more than 50 years before closing down around 1945 when demand for food dropped among villagers during World War II because farmers produced more crops instead of animals for slaughter

Melrose was a small town in Massachusetts during the early 1800s. It was located about 25 miles east of Boston, and had a population of about 500 people at its peak. The town was founded in 1795 by Increase Melrose, an Englishman who came to America as a trader. The name Melrose comes from the word “museum”, which is how the town got its name. The first settlers in Melrose were farmers and their families. In 1811, the U.S. Congress passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which allowed slavery in western Missouri and Kansas but not in Nebraska Territory; this caused many farmer families to move to Nebraska Territory where they could continue to own slaves. In 1846, a group of men from Melrose destroyed several barns and buildings in what is now downtown on Main Street after being accused of blasphemy against God. This event is known as the Main Street Riot. After being mentioned in passing by John Adams during his presidency (1797-1801), Melrose gained some notoriety when it became one of the few towns in Massachusetts that voted for Andrew Jackson over incumbent President George Washington in 1828. Jackson's victory helped make Melrose one of the most important rural communities in New England during his time as president. As part of Jackson's political platform, he called for increased development within what would become Illinois and Indiana; this included building roads and bridges across rivers that transported goods between those states, as well asOpening up new land to settlement near Chicago – all while preserving much of what made America great: agriculture, mining, manufacturing and architecture among them! In 1840, when Nauvoo was discovered by Mormons living on an Indian reservation southeast of Quincy – just outside present day Springfield – many residents decided to move there rather than face religious persecution from their LDS brethren living on neighboring farms (and still doing so today). Approximately 400 people left for Nauvoo under leader Brigham Young; however only about 60 reached Illinois before Mormon hostilities erupted there two years later with mobs raiding homes and burning stores; resultingin 50 deaths including 12 Mormons! A large contingent consisting mostly men Leaving Nauvoo traveled through snowmobiling downriver towardsSpringfield via Millcreek Falls before reachingJacksonville on January 11th 1850 en route back home - becoming known astheMillcreek Flows Expedition - but they were devoured by Native American warriors upon arrival at Jacksonville instead! On July 8th 1861 three Union warships arrived off Eastport Harbor attemptingto scuttle Confederate Privateer CSS Florida; following cannonballs Fired intothe harbor A Explosion occurred causing extensive damage to both ships & Naval Dockyard adjacent thereto [Note: no US casualties resulted]; afterward USS Maine OccupiedEastport Harbor until decommissioned 1912] On October 3rd 1868 Daniel Webster sponsored House Bill No 792 makingMelrose an unincorporated community within Springfield Township . On November 16 th 1870 Pembroke Parish moved out of Springfield Township () into newly formedRandolph County due largely to population growth & lack thereof& so also Randolph County unincorporated areas came under jurisdictionofMilton .
