This deployment saw some very high-profile actions such asOperation Market Garden which led to the death of many Korean soldiers. It is also worth noting that this deployment was one of the few occasions where American sailors manned nuclear weapons on enemy soil. Another famous military deployment by the navy was Operation Neptune’s Spear which took place in 1965-1966 outside Cambodia. This operation was designed to stop North Vietnam from launching a massive attack against South Vietnam. When Operation Neptune’s Spear ended, over 2,000 Americans had died and over 16,000 were wounded%. Fitchburg is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 7,471 at the 2010 census. Fitchburg is part of the Boston metropolitan area. FITCHBURG FIRST APPEARS ON MAPS IN 1630 AD It was first called "Finchburgh" and it may have been located near modern day Fall River. In 1630, Captain John Winthrop's group of English colonists discovered what would become Fitchburg while travelling through the New England region on their way to new settlements in Rhode Island and Connecticut. At first they thought the area was uninhabitable because of its harsh weather conditions and lack of resources but upon arrival they found that there were many good fishing grounds nearby and also some excellent land for farming. In 1632, King Charles I granted a charter to Nicholas Mansfield, one of the original settlers in Fitchburg, for a town site on the banks of the Mystic River. The new town began to grow rapidly with people from all over New England coming to live here including Quakers (a religious group that did not believe in slavery). By 1700, Fitchburg had a population of around 10,000 people and by 1712 it had grown to over 20,000 people! The early years of this century were difficult for Fitchburg as an agricultural community since there was no money available to be made from agriculture. However with the onset of World War II things changed as munitions production became an important sectorof society in Massachusetts during that time period. This led to increased business opportunities for businesses such as Packing House Company which manufactured ammunition products right here in Fitchburg until 1961 when it closed its doors permanently after 125 years! In recent years there has been significant development happening within the boundaries of downtown Fitchburg thanks to investments by local businesses and philanthropists who see this area as an important opportunity for growth potential. One such example is Blue Water Brewing which opened up shop inside former Macy's department store which has now been renamed "The Marketplace". The store stocks beer from all over North America along with food items like pizzas and tacos - something that really sets Blue Water apart from other breweries around town! One major project currently underway within downtown is called "The Main Street Revitalization Project". This project will update infrastructure including sidewalks, streetlights and City Hall - making sure that everything feels more comfortable and welcoming for pedestrians who pass by every day! Fitchburg is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 8,912 at the 2010 census. Fitchburg was chartered on December 12, 1788 as "Fitchburgh", named for Colonel John Fitch of London. The townsite was laid out and platted in the town of Easton by Samuel Prescott on February 10, 1792. It became part of Worcester on January 1, 1801. The first white child born in what is now Fitchburg was Josephine Bickford born to Nicholas Bickford and his wife Mary Ann Keeney on October 2, 1793. Two years later, Nathaniel Hale married Sarah Churchill in Fitchburg and had two children – Harriot (1805-1887) and Alfred (1807-1885). One hundred years ago this week (October 23), the anniversary of the battle of Bunker Hill which ended the American Revolution occurred here when British forces attempted to storm the fortifications surrounding Portsmouth from three sides during a night attack that failed spectacularly due to bad weather conditions. A contingent from General George Washington's army under Lieutenant Colonel Nathanael Greene unsuccessfully fought their way through an unenclosed section of wall before retiring back towards Boston while under heavy fire from British artillery support positioned atop nearby hills overlooking Portsmouthtown Heights
