The history of the Fitchburg Air Force deployment gift program began in the early 1960s when Colonel John M. Tilton, USAF (Ret.), a retired Air Force officer and member of the Fitchburg City Council, decided to establish a military installation in the town. He envisioned an airbase that would house both fighter and bomber aircraft as well as storage facilities for munitions and other equipment. The colonel sponsored a feasibility study that resulted in the founding of The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Auxiliary Test Range at Fitchburg Airport in 1963. Since then, MIT Auxiliary Test Range has been home to many different types of aircraft and spacecraft; including Boeing 707s, P-38 Phantoms, Bell 212 Jetfighters and Republic Airlines DC-3s used for advanced research programs such as Operation Athena. In 1998, MIT Auxiliary Test Range was designated by Congress as part of The National Aeronautics and Space Administration's arsenal of cooperating research sites nationwide. As part of its role on campus, MIT also offers undergraduate students opportunities to gain experience with flight operations while working towards their degrees; including flying Cessnas during summer school exercises or participating in aerial photography missions over Boston Harbor during winter term breaks. Additionally, graduate students are able to work on research projects at MIT while earning their degree from another university or college within Massachusetts. In recent years, MIT Auxiliary Test Range has seen increased use by local governments as well; such as the city government in Northborough using it for training purposes during emergencies or law enforcement duties. As a result, Commander Christopher Aumann UH-1 Huey Helicopter Squadron 5th Air Refueling Wing is stationed here permanently to support various community events from disaster relief through entertainment programming; providing valuable training opportunities for local responders).

Fitchburg, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,611 at the 2010 census. Fitchburg is home to the Fitchburg Memorial Library and the Goudreau-Finch Museum of Art. It is also the home of Hampshire College. Fitchburg was first settled in 1724 by John Fitch and his family. The town was named for Colonel Edmund Fitch (1685-1762), an early settler and member of the Provincial Congress from Massachusetts in 1722-23 who represented Ipswichshire in the British Parliament during the reign of George I. In 1728 John Fitch's brother Nathaniel bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land on which he built a sawmill and gristmill that remain extant to this day. Nathaniel's son Samuel also built a mill on River Shannon near present day Manchester Center while another son, Caleb founded Clinton Hall School in 1814. The townsite located at what is now Centre Street and Main Street began as part of Northampton Township when it was organized under colonial charter on October 4, 1693. On July 12, 1724, after merging with neighboring Westborough township due to their close proximity to each other on Route 9A (present day Route 128), Fitchburg became one of twelve townships within Middlesex County established by royal charter dated June 25, 1692; this act created new municipalities throughout New England based upon patterns set forth in earlier acts governing Worcester Township (April 10th), Salisbury Township (July 5th), Hadley Township (October 15th), Sudbury Township (November 3rd), Chelsea Township (November 10th) – all of which were consolidated into Middlesex County following its establishment as part of Great Britain during its period as an independent colony following its independence from Dutch America on January 14th, 1776. In 1801 David Stone moved his salt works from Ipswich to what is now central FITCHBURG where they continued operation until 1853 when they were closed due to climate change caused by increasing sea level changes brought about by global warming; however remnants can still be seen today along High Street (& Shoreline Drive).Stone did not plant any crops but instead used his salt production capability for shipping goods back and forth between Boston & New York City annually earning him some distinction as "the busiest seaman living". One particular event referenced here took place February 261818 when over 5000 people descended upon Kingstown Square precinct courthouse seeking redress for injuries received during a religious procession marking Good Friday preceding Easter services - leading eventually to several arrests including that of William Davenport alias 'the Bishop' - later known as renowned abolitionist campaigner! The first air force deployed gift history was on December 8, 1941 when the United StatesAAF sent a message to Japan congratulating them for their successful attacks on Pearl Harbor. The following year, the United StatesAAF sent another gift to Japan in honor of their victory over America at Midway. This time, the gifts were more practical and consisted of radios, planes and other equipment used by the Japanese military. Throughout World War II, the United StatesAAF distributed many different types of gifts to both countries in order to show our support for one another. In particular, the United StatesAAF distributed Christmas presents to our Japanese counterparts during this time. One example is an ornament called "Ace of Spades" which is made from a real diamond and has a secret code number written on it. The Ornament is given as a gift to an officer or general who has served with distinction during wartime. Additionally, American citizens donated clothing and shoes to be given as Christmas gifts to members of the Japanese military throughout 1942- 1945.
The United States Air Force deployed a gift history in the form of an air force stationed at Andersen AFB, Guam. The gift History was created to commemorate the operational deployment of the F-16 Fighting Falcon and its component aircraft, the A-10 Warthog. The gift History begins with a visit by USAF General Michael Hayden, Commander in Chief of U.S. Strategic Command, during which he toured Andersen AFB and met with members of the Guam Air National Guard. The General then presented a F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft to Guam's air force as part of a formal donation from the United States Air Force to the Guam Defense Forces. Since its deployment, Andersen AFB has been home to both unit airplanes and ground support staff providing essential services to USAF aviators conducting operations worldwide. As part of this commemoration, all squadron commanders have flown their respective jets on occasion throughout Guam's airspace for practice flights and qualification maneuvers with other squadrons in preparation for future deployments across America'sPacific Theaterof Operations (PTO).
