Everett, Massachusetts is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 20,693 at the 2010 census. Everett is one of the most populous towns in Massachusetts. The town is bordered by Westborough to the north and east, Northampton to the south and west, and Somerville to the northwest. The first permanent settler in what would become Everett was John Evans who arrived in 1771. There were several subsequent arrivals before 1802 when Reverend James Pierpont moved from Watertown, New York to found Everett with others of his group on July 4th. In 1814 there was another large influx of colonists as part of the Second Seminole War which brought many soldiers and their families to Everett. After that time there were only sporadic arrivals until around 1860 when people started farmingsteads near present day Everett Common as well as other areas between Wareham and Northampton Counties.. In 1870-71 a school was built for students in what would become known as “Old Town” which stands today on Meetinghouse Road across from the current Everett Common Elementary School building. In 1903 an addition was added to this building which became known as “New Town” after land sales took place within that area during that year. In 1916 Captain George Dowling donated land on what is now Cummings Avenue for a new high school which opened in 1917-18 under name Newton High School (later renamed Eliot High School). In 1950-51 a new elementary school also opened under name Newton Elementary School while an annex also served as home for Eliot Junior High School until 1971 when it became part of Building Department Middle College until 1994 when it closed along with all other schools within that department due to budget cuts. A community center/library dedication ceremony took place on May 25th, 1988 at the former location of Eliot Junior High School where plans calls for use of space currently occupied by Old Town Community Center/Library (formerly called Cummings Avenue Community Center) adjacent to Route 3G Border Road interchange approximately 2 blocks south of current site of Eliot Library

Everett is a town in Massachusetts, United States. The population was 8,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area and the largest such area in New England. Everett's history began with the founding of the town by Increase Mather on March 12, 1792. In 1821, Everett became a district of Boston. On December 15, 1881, it became an independent town. On January 1st of each year since then, Everett celebrates its anniversary by holding an event known as "Everett Day". The first settler in what would become Everett was John Morse who built a house on land he had purchased from Samuel Adams in 1792. In 1821, after being separated from Boston for political reasons, Everett voted to secede from Massachusetts and form itself into anIndependent Town under the guidance of James Ketchum (a signer of the Declaration of Independence). The first mayor was Nathaniel Hawthorne and selectmen were George Peabody (1802-1803), Israel Putnam (1807-1808), Ebenezer Channing (1810-1811) and Isaiah Chandler (1800-1801). In 1824 there were three towns meeting together: Northborough (now Arlington Heights), Maynardville and Everett; these meetings merged on July 1st into one body called Southborough which continued to meet separately until 1840 when they all formed into one body again - this time named Southborough District No 2. At this time they were all considered consolidated villages but today only Northborough remains unincorporated within Everett limits while Arlington Heights is incorporated as part of Somerville MA In 1830s there were two more towns annexed to Southborough - Westboro and Eastboro; these towns also amalgamated on July 1st 1840 becoming Westboro District No 3 followed by Eastboro District No 4 on December 10th 1850 . Today just Arlington Heights remains unincorporated within Everett limits while Somerville MA forms its own municipality inside Greater Boston
