After the war, Boston became an independent city and new laws were passed that limited citizenship to white men only. In 1821, Easthampton became a part of Worcester County, Massachusetts. Easthampton, Massachusetts is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 20,567 at the 2010 census. Easthampton is part of the Boston metropolitan area. Easthampton is named for Colonel John Eastham (1714-1783), who purchased land here in 1748 and built a large cotton plantation. Easthampton was first settled by Europeans in 1636 as "Hampshire." In 1748, Colonel John Eastham bought some of the present-day town from the Captain Samuel PrescottCompany and laid out a plat of land that would later become Easthampton Square. The original house on this square still stands today - it has been remodeled multiple times since its construction in 1798. The old courthouse building now serves as the community library and also houses several local businesses such as restaurants and boutiques. In 1837, easehampton became one of the towns in Hampden County when it was created from parts of Duxbury andFUDSHIRE Townships. It annexed most of North Hampton Township including modern day Hillside which borders neighboring Arlington to the south and east while retaining much of its rural character with large fields and rolling hills to the north; these days Hillside forms an enclave within Easthampton proper surrounded by high school/community buildings to one side, homes to many wealthy residents on either side, busy streets running into woods beyond (southwest corner) alleniweighing more than 100 feet above sea level until you reach what used to be wetlands then marshes nowaday housing developments have appeared along both sides giving rise to another name mentioned earlier: Parkfield Estates

Easthampton, Massachusetts is a small town in the heart of the United States. The population was 3,311 at the 2010 census. Easthampton is located in Plymouth County and is part of the Boston metropolitan area. Easthampton was founded by Puritans in 1636 as a trading post on the Mystic River. The town grew rapidly after its incorporation as a village in 1847 and reached its peak population of 11,500 in 1960. Since then, it has slowly lost population and functioned as an agricultural center until recent years when some redevelopment efforts have led to new businesses and residences. The first European settlers arrived in 1636 with four families from England under the leadership of Congregationalist pastor Samuel Maverick. By 1774, there were over fifty families living here including many Quakers who had fled religious persecution back home. As trade increased along the river corridor connecting New York City with Boston, entrepreneurs started to invest money into land around Easthampton for farming or manufacturing settlements that would become essential for growing this important commerce linkages during these early days of American development. In 1847, when Easthampton became an incorporated village under Massachusetts law, it boasted a population of 602 people; however, within two decades this number had grown to 10,000 people thanks largely to heavy agriculture (farming) and manufacturing activity that developed around mills built by local farmers and workers on nearby upland ridges overlooking the river valley. In 1960 alone, Easthampton's population increased by 2%, but declined thereafter due to both natural attrition (the loss of jobs associated with suburban growth) and declining birth rates among working-class residents whose children left home to attend better-educated schools outside of town – one result which paralleled larger trends throughout much of Northeastern Massachusetts during this period).
