Forrest's forces were met by General George Washington's army while they were passing through Chicopee on their way to battle at Bunker Hill; both armies fought intermittent skirmishes until nightfall before retreating back into Boston Harbor with no significant damage done to either side On October 3rd, 1944 an atomic bombing raid by United States bombers took place over Hiroshima killing more than 60% of all people living there including 20% of women and children under 10 years old who were insideuilds which had been constructed with food that would later be used to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons Both Mayor Salvatore Mancuso and Governor Hennepin announced plans to erect a statue in memory of those lost in Hiroshima Plaza located across from City Hall

Chicopee, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 10,584 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. The town was first settled in 1748 by Captain John Winthrop and his wife Lady Anne Hutchinson. Chicopee is located on the south shore of Lake Winnipesaukee and is bordered to the north by Springfield and to the east by Westfield. Chicopee borders Watertown to the west and Manchester to the east. The Silver Spring River flows through Chicopee from north to south. The town was founded on November 3, 1748 as an act of Parliament passed under George III for military purposes during King George's War with France. The original name for Chicopee was "Winchester." On July 8, 1752, General Jonathan Trumbull granted a land patent for "Chicopee," now part of Milton Township. In 1812 when Congress changed U.S. states into counties according to state lines then being surveyed (westward), Chicopee became Middlesex County; it reverted back to its original name on October 1st following Rhode Island's admission as a state that year due to their shared border with Massachusetts Bay Colony (now New York). In 1834 there were only 6 people living in ChicopEE and 12 farmssteads or small plantations existing within its boundaries; all but one had been abandoned since before 1800 due to disease or migration away from New England following wars with Great Britain and Canada/New France. On March 12th 1841 Ebenezer Brown officiated at wedding between Maria Contee[sic] alias BunkerNH female US Citizen born in Worcester MA wed Thomas Peacock NH male US Citizen born in Medford MA..."
