The United States Air Force has a long and storied history of deploying gifts to members of the civilian community. This tradition began in World War II, when theAAF created the Gift Shop Unit to distribute Christmas presents to military personnel and their families. The present continues today, with the Air Force's gift history reaching back over 60 years. Some of the most famous USAF gifts include missiles and fighter jets, satellites and other equipment, as well as medical supplies and disaster relief items. From small gestures like a box of chocolates or an assortment of books for a soldier on deployment, to larger donations like tanks or planes, the USAF has always been willing to contribute its time, money and resources to support its fellow citizens. This generosity is also displayed in how different groups have responded to different deployments throughout the years. For example, during Operation Desert Storm in 1991-1992, RAF Tornado aircraft were used as transports by Marine units ferrying troops across Iraq's desert landscape. Similarly, during Operation Noble Eagle in 1996-1997 – which was responsible forliftng more than 1400 people from Kuwait into safety – Army troops donated food parcels that were then delivered directly to soldiers stationed at FOB Schwarzkopf. Throughout these years there have been countless examples of USAF giftedness – from local purchases like flowers or candles for a family member deployed overseas, to large donation drives that have helped change lives for many individuals within our communities. And while some Gifts are still being sent today (like Hurricane Harvey Relief), it is clear that this tradition will only continue growing stronger with each passing year!

The air force is a military branch of the United States government that has been in existence since World War II. The air force has a variety of missions and responsibilities, including providing aerial refueling and strike support, conducting nuclear deterrence, and operating globally. The USAF also provides related environmental services. The first USAF was activated on April 17th, 1947 as the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC). On July 1st of that year, AFRC was redesignated as the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFPOSI). In 1951, AFPOSI became the Department of Defense Inspector General (DODIG) and its mission was to investigate issues within DOD. In 1955, AFPOSI transitioned into the Directorate of Investigations and Historiographical Research (DIHR), which oversaw all DOJ investigations into military history. In 1979 DIHR was renamed Directorate for History & Heritage Affairs (DHHA) after being merged with then-Deputy Director for Military History & Heritage Affairs at Headquarters USAF (HHDMA). In 1998 DHHA merged with Deputy Director for Historical Resources Division at Headquarters US Army to form Directorate for Military History & Heritage Programs (DMHP). DMHP’s mission is to manage all aspects of historical resources management within DoD. Along with this change in name came new responsibilities for DHHA such as managing Donor Relationships Program/Donor Acknowledgement Program; developing policy around archival storage and access; overseeing Historic Preservation Office; overseeing museum operations;and creating public outreach programs. Since its inception, DFHQ has played an important role in stewarding America’s military heritage. Through its work across many domains including history education, commemoration, research and archives Stewardship Awards are given annually to organizations who have achieved excellence in their stewardship practices within DoDHistory&HeritageAgency memory communities
