Coffee has been enjoyed by people all over the world for centuries. In Agawam, Massachusetts, coffee became a popular drink in the early 1800s. The first coffeehouses were open in this town in 1798. Coffee was soon being traded and sold throughout the colonies and eventually came to be consumed widely across North America. In 1847, John Bogle founded J.B. Lumber Company in Agawam with the goal of bringing Indonesian coffee beans to American consumers. At first, JBL only exported Java beans, but as demand grew they began marketing other types of coffee as well. By 1893, JBL had become one of the largest importers and manufacturers of coffee products in the United States. The popularity of coffee continued to grow throughout the 20th century until World War II caused a decline in production and trade. However, through various efforts led by farmers and entrepreneurs, Dutch-style roasts returned to prominence in Agawam during the 1970s and 1980s mixed with Turkish-style espresso receptors beginning about 1950). Today’s cafes continue to serve up delicious cup after cup of Joe while exploring new flavors from around the globe!

Agawam is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston–New York–Philadelphia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Agawam were among the Mayflower Compact colonists who landed on Plymouth Plantation in 1620. From there they reached what is now Agawam through an opening in the Ipswich Mountains and soon began trading with local natives and exploring this area which included today's Agawam Town. On July 16, 1627, Samuel Adams, one of the signers of the Mayflower Compact and later a delegate to the First Continental Congress from Massachusetts, set out from Plymouth with his brother-in-law John Winthrop and another Puritan leader named Edward Winslow to explore new land beyond Cape Cod. They arrived at what is now Agawam about two weeks later on July 24th after journeying for about . After landfall they built a cabin near present day Grafton Street (now US Route 93) where they lived until October 10th when they joined forces with other pioneers led by Captain John Smith to start building their own settlement around present day Quincy Hill on December 12th (the original site of Quincy Market). In 1629/30 English explorer John Wood gave up his search for New England rumored territory instead going inland looking for goldfields in New Netherland and he passed by what is now Agawam while sailing south along today'sRoute 40 on February 25th (the same day as Plymouth Colony's first official settler). This event may have been inspiring early settlers in nearby Middletown to name their town after Wood or some such high profile figure as this may have given them encouragement both physically and emotionally during their earliest days here. In any case following his visit it became known as "Woodsborough" - probably due to local resident Isaac Woods' efforts theretofore - until it was changed back to "Agawam" by American authorities upon its incorporation into Middlesex County as part of that county's General Court system under Governor Wolcott in 1792! Today most people believe that only 2 men actually sailed across open ocean from Plymouth Colony all those years ago;Samuel Adams &John Winthrop; not Robert Dudley & Richard Graves like often reported years ago!! So much has changed since then & so many discoveries have been made since then including our current location within modern day Middlesex County...so please enjoy my paper but be sure also check out my website where I share more information about our wonderful town located just minutes away from downtown Boston!!!
Coffee has been enjoyed by many people for centuries. It is believed that the first coffee was brewed in Sumeria, in 495 BC. The first commercial coffee beans were grown in Java and Yemen in the 16th century. In 1847, a man named John Mitchell started the world’s first cafe on Stockton Street, London. This led to the development of café culture throughout Europe and North America. Today, there are thousands of cafes across the globe that offer different types of coffee drinks and pastries like croissants, sandwiches and lattes.
