The popularity of these sacks led to the opening of other artisanship-focused shops across the United States over the next few years – including Artisan Coffee Co.'s flagship store in Seattle (now closed), as well as several locations in New York City and Boston MA. Throughout this time period, Rick continued to roast his own beans and sell them directly to consumers under the moniker "Rick's Roastery". He also founded an online store that offered customers access to high-quality roasted products from all over the world without having to go into physical stores

The name Takoma Park comes from a large tract of land that was donated by Dr. George Washington to the town in 1814. The area now known as Takoma Park was first settled by German immigrants in the 1800s and it wasn't until after World War II that Asian Americans began to arrive here. In 1967, Takoma Park became an all-African American town when Elijah Muhammad moved to the community from Baltimore.Today, Takoma Park is one of Northern Virginia's most diverse communities with a population of over 60% black and 50% white! As one of Northern Virginia's fastest-growing suburbs, Takoma Park has seen dramatic changes over the past few decades - including its emergence as an important center for education and business investment within Fairfax County’s metropolitan area. Today, there are more than 20 shopping malls and office complexes located in or near Takoma Park – making it one of Northern Virginia’s largest shopping districts! The population growth caused problems for local officials who were unable to keep up with the demand for services. In 1916, when Takoma Park annexed neighboring Silver Spring Township, it became one of the most populous municipalities in Maryland with over 100,000 residents. Today, Takoma Park is a well-known community within its borders and is home to many cultural attractions such as art galleries and theatres.
