Air Force Deployed Gift History in Salisbury, Maryland began with the deployment of a detachment of the U.S. Air Force's 9th Tactical Wing (9TEW) to Salisbury, Md., in 1992 as part of Operation Good Neighbor. The wing's Aircraft Maintenance and Replacement Squadron (AMRS) wastasked with providing terminal maintenance support for United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE)'s European Area Command aircraft flying out of RAF Mildenhall. The 9TEW detachment operated from RAF Salisbury until its mission wasended in 1995 when arrive RAF Dissington reopened its facilities as an USAF Base. The unit remained stationed at Dissington until it moved to RAF Marham on December 1st 1999 under the command of First Lieutenant Christopher Denton-Jones and Major General James A. "Mike" Easley Jr.. The 9TEW detachment became responsible for Provide Maintenance and Repair Support squadron(PMSR) which is also located at RAF Marham now known as USAF Regional Maintenance Facility (RMF). In this role, the squadron provides depot level maintenance support to airmen assigned to various military installations worldwide including NATO Headquarters Allied Forces Europe billets at Ramstein AFB, Germany; USNAFinstallations at Rhein-Main AB, Germany; Naval Station Patuxent River MCAS Washington DC; Royal Danish Air Force Base Skagen; Italian Aerospace Force - Rome AFB - Cam Ranh Airport; Belgian Air Component Command - Brussels AB - Westhoek AFB and Spanish Army Mission Atucha airbase near Madrid – all through Joint Service/National Aeronautics & Space Agency program standdown periods or during wartime period when no USAF installation was available within range. Salisbury is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Salisbury is located on the west bank of the Potomac River. The original town site was on land that now includes present-day Salisbury and West Point. The first settlement in what is now Prince George's County was made by two brothers named John and Joshua Rogers in 1792. They started out trading with Indians and selling goods they had collected along the river. In 1800, Joshua Rogers founded a small community called Springettsylvania on land he purchased from the government for $1 per acre (or one dollar for each pound of weight). John Rogers continued to live there until his death in 1820. On January 24, 1871, Salisbury became a town when it was ratified by an act of the Maryland General Assembly pursuant to an act of Congress approved October 25, 1870. At its incorporation, Salisbury had a population of 502 people including 100 residents who lived on board the first American steamer built at Harpers Ferry—the "Cumberland" which arrived in Salisbury on November 10th, 1870 and unloaded its passengers at Easton Landing where they walked across the river to start their lives anew (today's West Point). In 1904–1905 local entrepreneur J C Kapp donated $10,000 towards construction of what would become Harpers Ferry National Historical Park(). That same year also saw another large gift - this time $25,000 from local industrialist Samuel Inslee - towards downtown revitalization which included new sidewalks and streetlights as well as public restrooms throughout town center area east of Main Street. A large stone sculpture dating back to 1907 honoring members of both local families who had contributed money or labor during construction phase can be found near Administration Building off US Route 22 just south of US Route 507
