The USAF in Havre De Grace, Maryland began its operations as a branch of the Air Force Reserve on July 1, 1947. The first unit to arrive in town was the 125th Fighter Squadron which arrived from RAF High Wycombe. The squadron was reformed on October 15, 1951 and redesignated the 433d Bombardment Wing. The wing's first mission was to provide air defense for Baltimore and Washington D.C.. In 1957, the 433d BW was moved to McGuire AFB, NJ where it became operational with F-86 Sabres. In 1961, the wing's aircraft were reassigned to Maxwell AFB after they were no longer needed at McGuire AFB. On May 21st of that year, General Curtis LeMay announced that the USAF would divest itself of all fighter wings and each unit would be activated into one numbered air force under his command with a single mission: "To enable American forces throughout NATO to fight effectively together." This announcement created an uproar within the USAF as many believed that this would mean disbanding most of what remained of America's bomber force (the Strategic Air Forces). However, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara convinced LeMay that this plan only applied to fighter units and not bombers which meant that Maxwell AFB could keep its F-86 Sabres while McGuire AFB lost its F-101 Vampires. On July 1st 1966, when General Nathan Twining took over as Commander in Chief of United States Air Forces Europe he made it a policy for every military service branches to divest themselves of any capabilities or personnel not directly assigned to war against Communism or insurrectionary activity within their own territories. During Twining's tenure there were numerous changes within United States Air Forces Europe including establishment on December 10th 1969 of Headquarters Allied Powers Europe - responsible for both Military Affairs and Civil Affairs components which merged with Headquarters US European Command - making it essentially one unified command structure across all services concerned with Allied Warfighting Activities outside NATO member countries primarily Germany but also Austria/ Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia during 1967-1969 constitute aerial warfare operations by these countries while other forces are engaged in ground support activities such as troop movements or peacekeeping missions Since World War II until recently Operation Provide Comfort has been conducted by coalition nations involving ground troops flying combat helicopters over Iraq providing medical care unrestricted safe airspace above Baghdad In 1973 North Vietnam unsuccessfully invaded Cambodia using Scud missiles fired from inside South Vietnam

The first settler in what would become Havre De Grace was Nicholas Gouge who built a cabin on the banks of the Susquehanna River in 1784. The community started to grow soon after with other pioneers coming to find land and establish their homes hereabouts. In 1814, John Thornton founded Thornton & Company which became one of the largest mercantile companies in America at that time. John Thornton also donated land to form what would become known as Main Street which ran through Havre De Grace today. Over time, many businesses were established within Havre de Grace including: The Old Post Office (1826), Haverford Furniture Store (1847), First National Bank (1868), and American Legion Post #1 (1928). By 1907, there were over 100 businesses operating within the town limits! With so much activity going on day-in and day-out, it’s no surprise that Havre de Grace saw its share of growth during World War II when many local residents enlisted in military service! Following World War II, Havre De Grace experienced some significant changes as well; most notably becoming an all-white community for the first time ever! This decision was made because Prince George's County had been newly formed from parts of Baltimore County following the war. As such, white citizens felt they could more easily integrating into society here than they did back in Baltimore City where many minorities resided. Today, Havre de grace still retains a very diversified economy with both small business owners and large corporations presence throughout its core commercial districts; providing plenty of opportunities for residents to get involved with local government as well!

In 1864, a canal was built through Havre De Grace and helped to increase trade within the community. In 1928, Havre de Grace absorbed neighboring towns for financial reasons.
