John Aiken in 1806. He received a pistol as a gift and several badges and other items for his service in the Constabulary. Aiken is considered to be one of the first policemen in Frederick, and his gift has been remembered by many over time. In 1922, Maj. Gen. James Millington presented Captain Aiken with an engraved gold Colt revolver as a present from the United States Government. The gun is still on display at the Cecil County Museum in Fredericksburg, Virginia today! In 1951, Lt. Col.(Ret.) William Beal gave Constable Lacy Cagle an antique .357 Magnum revolver as a retirement present! The firearm is currently on display at the Cecil County Museum in Fredericksburg, Virginia!

Frederick, Maryland is a city in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 18,592 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Prince George's County and second-largest city in Maryland after Baltimore. The metropolitan area has a population of over 50,000 people. The early history of Frederick is obscure but it may be that the first human beings to inhabit what is now Frederick County were Indians who hunted game near the present day site of downtown Frederick. Ancient Potomac River sites have been found dating back to 9000 BC and evidence suggests that humans had been living in this area for centuries before European explorers arrived in North America. In 1692 Captain John Smith discovered land comprising present day Frederick County when he sailed along the Potomac River from Jamestown on his voyage to explore new lands south of Virginia and north of Carolina. In 1785 Colonel Nicholas Mynydd bought 5 acres (20,000 m²) on which he built Fort Mynydd as part of an effort to secure British rights over what are now Upper and Lower Montgomery counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and northeastern Delaware. When Revolutionary War forces under General Washington moved eastward into Maryland during spring 1775 they reached Mynydd's fortification and burned it down – an event which made good news for British troops occupying Philadelphia because they could then move more easily into those regions without fear of attack by American forces. In 1786 Colonel Nicholas Mynydd sold his holdings including Fort Mynydd to Benjamin Banneker for $10,000 cash plus 8500 acres (30 km²) around present day Frederick City limits; this land included much today's urban core of the city Limits neighborhood as well as much suburban development with no direct connection to any Native American reserves or villages located within today's boundaries of Frederick City limits. Banneker named his new settlement "Frederick" after himself because he believed that if Americans called anything by its original name then it would likely be considered Neutral ground since Neutral ground was not under full British control at that time although some areas were controlled by both sides throughout most of the revolution). By 1800 about 100 settlers lived there including 30 farmers and 10 mechanics; however due primarily to lackavailabilityoflandandpoorselectionofthebest farmland Banneker abandoned his colony three years later when prices for agricultural products increased on accountoftheRevolutionaryWarand afterward only sporadic immigration continued until 1825 when 400 Germans arrived seeking refuge from religious persecution during the Napoleonic Wars while others immigrated as slaves following their purchase by Ulysses S Grant from Thomas Jefferson during President James Kenedy’s administration (see Slavery in America).
