In 1977, Arnold passed away and his wife Gertrude took over the business. Gertrude was born in 1915 in Bowman and she worked at local hospitals before starting her own company that made knitwear for womenfolk. After Arnold's death, Gertrude continued running Gun Lover's Warehouse until her own death in 2010. Today, it is still run by descendants of Julius Kapp (Arnold's son) and Gertrude Kapp (Arnold's wife). Bowie, Maryland is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland. It is located on the Eastern Shore of the Potomac River. The population was 3,387 at the 2010 census. Bowie is home to the Bowie State Park and National Wildlife Refuge. The first mention of Bowie was in 1253 when it was part of Prince Edward Island. The name "Bowie" derives from a Cherokee word meaning "to make an opening." In 1795, James Bowie founded what is now Bowie State Park. In 1959, President Eisenhower designated Bowie as a national park which includes portions of Hunting Creek Wilderness and Great Falls Ranger Districts within its boundaries. As more people moved into rural areas in the area during the late 1800s and early 1900s, many farmers began settling in Bowmanville and other parts of eastern Prince George's County including Bowie Township (now east side of zip code 20701). In 1925–1926 Pathman Ladd developed an interurban bus system between Princess Anne Avenue in downtown Baltimore and Ferry Road outside Bethesda which became known as Route 100 or simply 100. Many local businesses took advantage of this service which helped increase tourism around town by bringing people from outlying areas to see attractions like seashores and C&O Canal boats near downtown Baltimore without having to go all the way out to Laurel or Annapolis Junction etc. This also helped develop some active civic groups such as Friends Golf Links Committee which built a golf course on land donated by Ladd for $5 per annum until 1924 when it became public land leased back to Bowmanville school board for use as an after-school program center instead
