By 1830 Newbern had a population of about 150 people living primarily on cornmealchanters who cultivated maize crops supplemented by some cattle raising operations done by men from nearby Keswick .In 1835 Newbern Village gained township status when all but 2 out 9 residents voted in favor adding over $1 per capita towards school expenses thereby making it possible for full time teachers! After 10 years serving as a village the name change came about due to George Wetherall's death at age 72% during a storm that destroyed his house leaving nothing but sand beneath his feet! This company prospered until 1964 when they closed their doors due to lack of funding although they continue operate as property owners today providing educational opportunities for local students throughout Township government! There have been many changes take place since 1915 when Westbrook became known as “Westbrook” because its foundersGeorge Weston and Elijah Hogenkamp were both born thereabouts back then During World War II portions of East Penobscot county were taken away from Westbrook so that more land could be used for military production The post office opened October 20th 1862 under dateline Bangor Maine Territory Mail No 5557 A bill passed July 1st 1863 creating Penobscot County Main Post Office gave permission for mail service between Bangor & Kingston upon Hull MA On November 16th 1865 John Hogg started regular delivery service between Westport ME& Bangor Daily News agent Jno Cook began carrying goods between these towns bringing fresh produce direct from farms upriver
