On October 15th of each year since 1959, Saco residents have gathered together at City Hall to present their municipal gift from that year forward into future years. This tradition is called “Gift Drive” and allows residents from all over Saco to give something unique or special not just to their city but also across America through giving back-to-back gifts totaling $621 throughout 2017-2018! In 1865 Mr. Charles Wickersham opened a grocery store which quickly became one of the most successful grocery stores west of Boston due to its low prices and wide variety of products available at very reasonable prices. In 1865 Messrs Wickersham & Son began selling ice cream out their window! In 1870 Mr John Hickey started operating a flour mill that would later become known as Hickey’s Mills Incorporated (now JBS Co.).
