In 1851-52, when Bangor Savings Bank moved its main office out of state due to low stock levels,Sacobank continued operations with help from volunteers until it closed its doors again in 1955 citing insufficient competition from newer banks across the border.. At various points throughout its history sacobank exhibited characteristics indicativeof successful Second Generation towns such as: vibrant arts scene; nightlife; tight knit community; public service sector; tolerant toward different cultures.; etc., illustrating how community strengths can encourage strong economic development even after intervening changes

Today, Saco is an unremarkable small town with few cultural attractions or businesses worth visiting.
