During this time some people started to suggest that Auburn be merged with neighboring communities such as North Greenbush and South Greenbush so that they would have more access to transportation options and other amenities which those communities enjoyed. Ultimately however no merger occurred because there were concerns about how well each community would function under one administrative structure while still being separate municipalities limited by their own boundaries
