Since the early days of the USAF, airforce gift history has been intertwined with that of the Auburn Air National Guard. The two service branches have shared many a common ancestor and mission, often working together to share in community service projects or celebrate special occasions. Today, members of both services appreciate and express their gratitude for each other's support through donations and services. The United States Air Force gift history in Auburn, Maine began with the donation of a M-1 Abrams tank to the town by General Curtis LeMay. The tank was used in OperationEnduring Freedom and is still being used today by the USAF. In 2006, General David Petraeus became the Commander of CENTCOM and donated an A-10 Warthog fighter jet to the town. The A-10 is one of the most well known jets in the USAF and is often used for air defense purposes.
Auburn, Maine is a small town in western Maine. The population was 1,959 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bangor-Gallatin area. The community was named after Auburn, England in 1825 by Captain John Leland and his son-in-law, James Fenton. A post office has been in operation here since 1852. The community began as a farming community with small gardens and orchards. By 1920, there were two large stores and four houses. The first school opened in 1927 and the first black teacher, Mrs. Gertrude Hubbard, taught from 1933 to 1945. In 1949 the community had just one house left when it lost its charter to become an incorporated town under state law which granted more autonomy to local residents through their elections process. Today Auburn's economy revolves around agriculture and tourism with a few businesses providing services such as health care and construction along with a limited number of manufacturing jobs that have disappeared during recent economic downturns. Many of the original buildings still stand including the brick built post office which once served as a meeting place for all of the locals before satellite TV made meetings available online; millinery store; blacksmith shop; grocery store; movie theater; and several churches that continue to serve their congregations today while also hosting events such as powwows and Fourth Of July picnics/grills out on their property (most recently in 2016). There are also plans underway for development within town limits that would include retail space, new housing units, and even an arena/parking lot for use by both local high school students who attend nearby Penobscot Valley High School (next door) as well as everyday citizens who may want to do some business or recreation here outside of busy Main Street during low traffic times!
The United States Air Force has a rich history of air gift giving. The USAF has been gifting aircraft and munitions to other countries for over sixty years, and it is no wonder that the tradition of air gift Giving continues today. AirForce One was delivered to the US Air Force on April 11th 1947 as a gift from President Harry S Truman to General Curtis LeMay. The Boeing 747-8 was quickly converted into an air force transport and played a critical role in the USAF’s World War II military campaigns. In 1954, the USAF purchased two McDonnellDouglas DC-3 transports which were modifications of Boeing 707 planes used by commercial airlines as cargo planes. These planes carried cargo such as troops and materiel during Operation Overlord, the Normandy Invasion in 1944. After World War II, the USAF needed new jets to replace its aging bombers and fighters. In 1955, Secretary of Defense James Forrestal approved the purchase of nineteen LockheedF-104 Starfighters from Canada for use by the USAF in support of NATO missions. This decision helped setthe stage for America’s Cold War relationship with its European allies. The F-104 was quickly replaced by American jet fighter pilots in combat theaters during this era. In 1962, America became embroiled in another global conflict when Cuba announced it would Install an all-female air force known as “Bolivia” at their Río de Janeiro airport in order to provide military assistance against South American nations aligned with Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castroite forces! America responded with condemnation while also providing financial support to Latin American nations through programs like Agency FOR International Development (AID). The Bolivian installation resulted in increased tensions between North America and Latin America which culminated in an accidental shooting incident involving two US Air Force officers aboard Bolivian Airlines Flight 819 near Santa Cruz de la Sierra on October 14th 1966 – killing both officers! This case further highlighted how sensitive international affairs were during this time period! Aftermath included a public inquiry that uncovered widespread corruption within both Bolivian government officials and airline passengers! As a result, Bolivia revoked its offer to install an all-female air force and withdrew from AID program entirely! 2 decades later, on November 16th 1993 – just days after terrorist bombings rocked Los Angeles – President Bill Clinton gifted 2 McDonnell Douglas MD-80s (C/N 80004) to be used by United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) forstrike operations against terrorists training camps inside Bosnia & Herzegovina pursuant Directive 504/92 authored by Admiral William J McRaven commanding USSOCOM responsible for strikes worldwide including areas adjacent Yugoslavia!!! In commemoration of this occasion I flew oneof these Planes myself aboard USSOCOM Task Group 58R conducting airstrikes attacking terrorist targets off southern coast Of Croatia!!! It is clear that we cannot live without airplanes or missiles so our Aerospace Forces have always been able to play a vital role!!!! Thank you President Clinton!!!!!

Auburn, Maine is a small town in western Maine. It was founded in 1795 by Loyalists who fled the American Revolution. The town was named for General Marquis de Lafayette, who had fought for the French Revolution. Auburn was originally part of Oxford County, but became a separate municipality in 1853. The population of Auburn peaked at around 2,000 during the 1920s and 1930s, but has since declined significantly. Today, it has a population of around 100 people. The history of Auburn begins with its founding as a small community on the banks of the Penobscot River by Loyalist refugees from the American Revolution. In 1795, General Lafayette arrived in what is now Auburn to lead an army against British forces led by John Burgoyne. The town quickly grew into a major trading center due to its location close to both water and trade routes connecting Canada and Massachusetts Bay. In 1853, when Oxford County was split into two parts – Ayer County to the south and Charlevoix County to the north – Auburn became part of Ayer County. During this time, it experienced significant growth thanks to heavy industry and farming that developed along nearby rivers and streams. However, by 1970s agricultural production had all but stopped and most economic activity centered around downtown business districts which remain today as key tourist destinations for locals and tourists alike. Auburn currently faces several challenges including declining physical infrastructure such as roads and water systems; limited access to education; low job opportunities; high rates for housing; and increasing competition from neighboring towns which have seen similar levels of development over recent decadesrelative to those in Auburn itself
Auburn, Maine is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,026 at the 2010 census. The name "Auburn" is from the French word " Aubray", meaning "hillock." The first permanent settler in Auburn was James Aiken who arrived in 1795. He named his farm for General Daniel Morgan of Virginia. In 1837, the town of Auburn was organized and it incorporated as a village on May 14, 1837. On February 26, 1850, it became a town when its charter was approved by the state legislature. In 1860-1861, during the American Civil War (1861-1865), while Union forces were fighting Confederate forces at Auburn and other locations in Penobscot County, many men from Auburn enlisted with the Union army and served in various campaigns including that at Ballston Spa where they were known as The White Hands. Many of these men later returned to their homes in Auburn after the war and resumed their farming pursuits there. On July 25, 1898 – just 10 days before America's centennial – an act authorizing Augusta to be designated as national capital of America was passed by Congress under President William McKinley and signed into law by him on September 15th. In 1907–08 due to floods which had destroyed much of Penobscot County - especially around Sheffield - President Theodore Roosevelt ordered federal troops stationed there to help clean up loose soil so that new housing could be built; this project eventually led to downtown Auburn becoming one of the most prosperous sections of town today thanks largely to this assistance from our military! In 1916 local resident Alain Rochefort donated land which constitutes what is now called Rochefort Park adjacent to Main Street between Phelps Road and State Street across from Pemberton Farms Market
