The Naval Reserve Fleet in Zachary, Louisiana is home to the United States Navy's Deployed Gift History Program. The program allows Sailors and Marines from USS Enterprise (CVN-74) and USS George Washington (CVN- 78) to exchange gifts with their friends and family back home. The Deployed GiftHistory Program began on October 1, 1978 when orders were placed for the deployment of USS Enterprise (CVN-74). The gift marketing team at Naval Station Zachary was tasked with canvassing the area for appropriate gifts that could be exchanged between sailors and their families. The first exchange took place on October 5th, 1978 when a commanding officer from Enterprise met with his father, Captain Ronald W. Aiken Jr., aboard ship. They exchanged gifts and appreciation for each other's service. Since its inception, the Deployed Gift History Program has allowed Sailors from USS Enterprise (CVN- 74) and USS George Washington (CVN- 78) to exchanges Gifts with their friends and family back home. These interactions have been invaluable in developing strong relationships within the Naval Reserve Fleet community. From providing loved ones Christmas presents to exchanging small tokens of appreciation, these special moments provide valuable insight into how our Sailors interact with one another on a daily basis outside of duty hours.

Zachary is a town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 8,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Bogalusa Metropolitan Statistical Area. Zachary is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River north of New Orleans and south of Baton Rouge. The first post office in Zachary was established in 1827. The original name for the town was "New Iberia". In 1848, Zachary incorporated as a village and changed its name to "Zachary". In 1885, it became a town and then an unincorporated community. In 1960, it became an incorporated municipality with a full city status. On December 5, 2013, it merged with neighboring Metairie to form one municipality with a combined population of over 100,000 people. Zachary has several businesses that are major employers such as Tyson Foods Company (the largest employer), Louisiana Barge Lines (the second largest employer), Southern Air Line (the third largest employer), Best Buy Co., Inc., JCPenney Inc., BP America Limited (), FedEx Corporation (), Lumberyard Supply Co., Inc., American Home Shield (), BP Amoco Exploration & Production Company (), Live Oak Petroleum Corp (). As of the 2010 census there were 8,898 residents in Zachary Township including 2128 African Americans and 7884 Latinos

Zachary is a small town in the parish of Livingston, Louisiana, United States. Zachary was founded by brothers John and David Ziegler in 1802. The Zieglers were early settlers in what is now Livingston Parish. The community was named for Zachary Silliman, one of the founders of New Orleans and its first Mayor. In 1814, Zachary became the seat of government for Livingston Parish. The first courthouse in Zachary was built on State Street in 1816. The current courthouse was built in 1907 and renovated in 2009-2010. It is a two-story brick building with a gable roof and steeple. It has been used as the courthouse since it was Built and has been noted for its design by architect Alfred Jarry who designed other famous American buildings such as Notre Dame Cathedral and the White House National Historical Park’s Executive Mansion. 1) Mrs Zacchaire's tragic story: Missie (Mrs.) Purdy started working at her family's grocery store on High St near Main about 1865 when she married Mr John A Ziegler Jr., also from Livingston Parish, but because their land lay north of I-10 exit 9A on FM 2147 there wasn't much business to be had until afterthe floodwaters receded from that area including Straight Highway which ran through downtown Zachary between Bush Rd NW & USHighway vertebrates could cross without being seen so Mrs Purdy set up shop behind her husband's garage across Bush Rd from where we still have live chickens today! From here they started delivering groceries direct to people's doors although their truck couldn't go all that far before getting stuck or not having any gas left so they would pull into Citizens Bank next door to get some more fuel then going back out again! They must have made quite a bit of money doing this because when they bought property east side of USHighway vertebrates could cross without being seen along Bush Rd/State St E which is now known as Big Lots right down to just past where HWY 10 ends! This part of town looked very different then it does now especially due to straight highway taking away most if not all woodsy growth around those parts... but our history does include photos taken during Hurricane Katrina when big lots were completely destroyed & power went out along those streets too :(
Zachary was a small town in Louisiana when the American Civil War began. It was located in Acadiana on the Gulf of Mexico and it saw much fighting. The town was destroyed by Union forces during the war and many of its residents were killed or taken prisoner. Zachary is now a ghost town and is known for its haunted houses and ghosts.
