Pineville is a small town in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie metropolitan area. Pineville was founded in 1853 by Scots-Irish immigrants who had come to live in what is now Livingston Parish during the American Civil War. The name "Pineville" comes from a tree that grows on the property where it was first settled. The town developed around its three public schools, which served students from pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade until 1984 when Louisiana created an 8th-grade level school system. The schools are currently being used as charter schools; Pineville's only public library serving residents age 6 and under is also closed for renovation and reopening as a charter school early next year. The community has also developed into an agricultural center with significant production of corn, cotton, soybeans, eggs and other products grown on land leased or donated by local farmers and ranchers dating back to the early 1800s. In recent years, pineapples have become one of Pineville's most well-known exports due to their popularity in Asia and South America; however, the fruit does not grow here naturally and must be processed here to make them taste good.

Pineville is a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,812 at the 2010 census. Pineville is part of the Baton Rouge–Metairie metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1836 by Scots-Irish immigrants as a cattle and cotton trading post on the banks of the Mississippi River. The post was moved to its present location in 1851 when the river became navigable for steamboats. The post served as a center for slave trade until 1865, when it closed down due to Reconstruction efforts following the American Civil War. In 1881, Pineville incorporated as a city under an act of Congress. In 1912, it merged with nearby Metairie to form Baton Rouge City. In 1990, PineVILLE annexed neighbouring Stroudsburg Township which had been unincorporated since 1907. Pineville is located at (31.922681,-92.660518). According tothe USGS website: "According to the 2006 census report,[1] Pineville has a total area of , all land." It borders Seven Hills Township in east-central Jefferson Parish and Livingston Parish in west-central Louisiana; these parish boundaries were changed by Act No 548 of 2006 which reorganized local government withinJefferson Parish based on congressional districts that were redrawn after 2000 Census results showed two new parishes (Livingston and Hammond) adjacent to Jefferson County while other parts of Jefferson County remained unchanged.(map) According to 2010 census data:[2] There are three wards -East Ward (based off ZIP code 70815), West Ward (based off ZIP code 72118), and North Ward (based off ZIP code 70401)--and each has about 30 residents living inside its ward boundaries plus any individuals who live within 10 miles of either municipality or their home town(s). Residents have voting rights equivalent to those possessed by city councilors except for absence without leave; however they cannot serve on city councilsor sit on committees because they are limited numbers . Citizens can also apply for municipal funding from various sources like state government funds through special events or economic development programs such asitiveness grants or matching dollars received from state government agencies
Pineville was founded by the French in 1685. It was named for a grove of pine trees that stood near the town's original site. The first settlers arrived in Pineville in 1793 and it became a village in 1824. In 1836, the town was renamed after General Andrew Jackson and it remained an active military community until 1946. The town experienced post-war decline until the late 1990s when it regained its prosperity as a bedroom community.
