He would later rename his company Nola Coffee Corporation after his daughter Nola's birthplace, Naples, Italy. In 1913, Mr. Harry Sockett founded Sockett & Sons Brewing Company which was located on Main Street across from today's Cafe Bonjour restaurantlocation which was once part of Jules Ferry’s Java Coffee Co.-It would be here where MrSockett first imported quality Colombian coffees from South America into the United States starting with a shipment of beans arriving in 1915 . Today’s Cafes Bonjour and Imojo were both opened by Harry Sockett’s son John Fenton Sockett Jr.. It should also be noted that Julius Leopold Freytag who co-founded L'Atelier Francais - an early French press café - also took ownership of another early Minden cafe called 'Le Moulin'. This location still stands to this day adjacent to present day Café Bonjour on River Road West just outside downtownMinden. Minden is located on the northwestern edge of New Orleans metropolitan area and is bordered to the north by St. Bernard Parish and to the east by Plaquemine Parish. To the south it borders Lake Pontchartrain and Belle Chasse Bayou. It lies within Acadiana region of Louisiana. The town was named after General Andrew Johnson's home state of Tennessee, where he attended school before serving in the U.S. Army during World War I as an artillery lieutenant colonel. Johnson then became a congressman from Memphis before being elected as president of the United States in 1924 (the first African American to be elected as a U.S. president). He resigned from office in 1933 due to allegations of corruption, but was re-elected twice as president with only white supporters until his death in 1968 despite being blind from early life due to cerebral palsy caused by injuries received while service in World War II as a Marine corporal . In 2006 Minden had an estimated population growth rate of 8%. Minden, Louisiana is a town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. Minden was founded in 1892 by John A. Minden and his family as a small community on the banks of the Mississippi River. It became a city in 1907 and was renamed to Minden after World War I veteran General George C. Marshall. The post office moved from Minden to New Orleans in 1912, then to Baton Rouge in 1937. In 1960, it reverted back to its original name of Minden. In 2002, it annexed part of St Peters Parish and became an even larger city with 15,000 residents; however, the incorporation of St Peters left Minden with only 8,031 residents as of 2000 census data. The history of Minden goes back over 120 years! John A.Minden started farming near what is now downtown Minden in 1892 while still living on his father's farm near L’Anse du Lac (today's Metairie). He moved his operation upstream into what is today's northwest side of town when he discovered rich low-lying land on which he could build homes and sell goods direct to consumers without going through middlemen like merchants or peddlers who took fees for selling goods door-to-door across France or other countries! By 1904 John had built himself a cabin just east of downtown – this cabin served as the nucleus around which blacksmithing/repair shop later developed! In 1907 Mayor Augustus White appointed Captain Wm Henson as curator for all cultural affairs within City Limits; Captain Henson functioned as office manager until 1915 when Mayor Harry Meeks took control with Vice President Frank Jealous serving as secretary/treasurer during that time frame In 1916 citizens went up against Councilmember Claude Pepper who wanted more money set aside specifically for recreation purposes including new parks & libraries; councilman Pepper offered no resistance but instead ceded power over these matters to Mayor Meeks Following World War I minderans eagerly awaited news that theirjcitizen soldier comrades were being returned home safely - there wasn't any -minderans learned soon enough that their soldiers had been sent off into combat overseas When America entered WWII many people decided they would rather stay neutral or help out their allies than fight – some chose not to return home after all With manpower shortages wartime mindserans turned increasingly towards manufacturing jobs due to high demand from both Axis Germany and Japan – this began what would become known as "the Great Brain Drain" during WW2 because most Americans stayed behind working at factories OR trying to find waysward military service projects . With war over things slowly calmed down & many people returned home things changed again with increased social activity throughout the late 1940s thru early 1950s when young couples got married & kids hit teenaged angst . After High School women made great strides becoming nurses & social workers while men worked outside the home & started families once again something never before seen happened hereabouts !! As First Lady Lucille Beaux put it: "It wasn't just white folks coming back into town....it was Negroes too!" The postwar boom period saw more African Americans come back & various businesses open up especially along Main Street such as grocery stores (& Gadsden Mills), mechanicshops (including one run by Huey Long!), restaurants (& LaFleur's restaurant), theaters (! RKO Pictures) sporting events (such as LSU football), car dealerships (& Texaco), etc.; furthermore minderans enjoyed easy access everywhere they went thanks largely to improvements made Downtown including widened streets making transportation easier than ever before . Although some businesses closed during the tough times following deindustrialization mainly due #1 oil price hikes (#2 Cultural Revolution) numerous others breathed new life into downtown during those years thanks chiefly thereto government investment totaling $40 million brought about by Former Governor Edwin Edwards mayoralty campaign promise !! In recent years redevelopment has picked up steam led by businessman Donny Deutch jnr., plans are underway for large condominium developments (@ Midtown Center)akin'SNewOrleans style but focusing more on arts amenities & retail opportunities
