When Kenner, Louisiana was founded in 1853, coffee beans were the only thing available to its pioneers. The area now known as Kenner was all that was available on the west side of the Mississippi River. A small farmhouse sat at the junction of two rivers, and because it provided water for their animals and mills, the pioneer settlers depended on coffee for their sustenance. Coffee beans became a common commodity in America after Spain discovered them during his attempt to explore North America in 1513. Coffee shipments began arriving in America from Europe beginning in 1624. By 1795, coffee had become so popular that importing merchants set up shops throughout New Orleans. In 1853, Frenchman Pierre Laclède started planting Arabica beans near present day Kenner and selling them direct to American traders. In 1865, when Colonel John Caulfield and his forces invaded Texas during the Mexican-American War, they found supplies of coffee growing wild there. With demand high for military goods due to war efforts abroad and new plantations being established along the Mississippi River, Caulfield contracted with French trader Mouton for 5 metric tons of coffee per month—enough to support 1,500 soldiers fighting in Mexico City at once. By 1870s Coffee had become an important export crop for Louisiana and it soon became one of America's favorite exports as well. The first commercial roasting plant opened up in Baton Rouge by Mouton Brothers in 1892; this led to increased production which helped drive down prices across entire Southeast Asia where coffee is still a mainstay drink today

Kenner, Louisiana is a small town in the parish of Jefferson in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 3,052 at the 2000 census. It is located on the eastern edge of Baton Rouge and within the St. Tammany Parish boundary. The town began as a small trading post on the banks of the Arkansas River, about northwest of present-day Kenner. In 1814, American forces burned down what is now Kenner's first courthouse and jail in order to prevent French traders from using it as an anchor point for their navigation upriver. In 1821, when France ceded its possessions east of Mobile Bay to America after its defeat in the Napoleonic Wars, Kenner became part of America and its territorial government moved from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. At that time it included all present-day Jefferson Parish except parts of St Tammany Parish north of I-10 along with adjacent parishes of Webster, Madison and Plaquemine counties which were added later. In 1848, when Louisiana seceded from America and became an independent country under James Kenedy Jr., Kenner remained part of that country but lost most if not all its commercial ties with America due to differences over slavery and Reconstruction policies following up on President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. During World War II much activity took place at Naval Air Station Park Field outside today's downtown because aircraft manufacturing was key to keeping Louisiana's economy going during wartime shortages elsewhere in the United States; however today only one hangar remains standing among many others destroyed by Hurricane Katrina two years ago (see photo). TodayKenner has returned somewhat to its pre-Katrina incarnation: A small shopping center covers most downtown; a few businesses remain open; there are some new houses built since Katrina; but overall it seems business has slowed or stopped altogether since then...except for occasional family gatherings around Memorial Day weekend which continue despite recent bad weather conditions (although events like these have been smaller scale recently than they were before).

Kenner is a town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 9,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie-Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by French colonists in 1765 as a trading post on the road from Mobile to Natchez. The first settler and postmaster in Kenner was Pierre La Villemer. In 1803, the town became the site of an important battle during the American Civil War when Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee attacked Union troops stationed here. The town's tannery and flour mill were destroyed by Union artillery bombardment but not before providing essential supplies for Confederate troops fighting on this Front Line of the Civil War. After most of Louisiana seceded from the United States in 1861, Kenner remained withinJefferson Parish until it was annexed by New Orleans in 1870. In 1902, Kenner's first black school teacher, Mrs. Anna Aiken (later Anna Lewis), opened Drury Elementary School which currently serves as Kenner's only public school that students can attend without fear of bus transportation or having to leave their homes during lunchtime or after school; prior to that all children attending public schools had to walk to nearby White Settlement Elementary School which served grades PK-8th grade while also offering instruction in agriculture and other basic skills necessary for survival as well as opportunities for play outside of class hours In 1925 Hurricane Charley destructive winds caused extensive damage to much of downtown Kenner including levee breaches that flooded parts of streets and homes giving residents time only few blocks away from their homes before dawn each day just to cross over river footings into new neighborhoods newly developed beyond old flood plain boundaries; single family dwellings were either left standing or rebuilt on higher ground out back gardens becoming holiday season residences known today as "Garden Homes" windowsills are still visible evidence above water level mark where upper stories once stands today home ownership changed hands many times throughout history be it through acquisition by individuals who owned land outright or through purchase/leaseback/purchase agreement with another business owner who resided & operated their business within limits set forth by pre-existing government regulations
