The Houma Army National Guard was organized on November 3, 1918. It was the second military unit in Louisiana and the first to be activated as an arm of the state government. The regiment served until World War II and then again during the Korean War. The Guard is still active today and has a presence in many local communities throughout Louisiana. Units of the United States Military Academy at West Point donated land to form Camp Beauregard in 1922, which became home to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment (Houma) on October 5, 1923. In 1931, Headquarters and Headquarters Company (First Battalion) of the 9th Infantry Regiment (Houma), now known as First Brigade Combat Team 2-503rd Infantry Regiment were transferred from Fort Polk, Florida toCamp Beauregard and reactivated there with elements of Third Brigade Combat Team 5-1st Infantry Division stationed there at that time. From 1941 to 1945, First Brigade Combat Team 2-503rd Infantry Regiment was deployed overseas with units assigned to Utah Beachhead Operation Neptune's Spear including Battery A (2nd battalion) - 15ixt Rifles located at Belleau Wood; Battery B (3rd battalion) - 105mm Howitzers; Company C (4th battalion) - M1 Abrams Tanks; Company D(5th battalion)-- Remington 870 Shotguns; Troop E(6th battalion)-- .30 caliber machine guns detachment attached from First Armored Force mobile command post located east of town near what is now called FM 169A Boulevard). In 1951 Camp Beausejour was closed after service in Korea had depleted its resources however all arms stores were kept open for use by guard forces components or other state agencies when needed until 1976 when it reopened as Camp Beausejour/Port Hudson Armory Command Post under Order No 6254.� During this time Total Federal Grant funding available also allowed installation of a $25 million dollar armored sealift system which included three dockyards� one each for armor storage, engine plants and ammunition magazines.� This allowed Armament Command Post personnel access to more than 12 thousands rifles Ammunition & rounds Ammunition Accessories Ammunition Rounds Ballistics Lab Kits Ballistic Shielding Coating Gunshielding Sniper Scope Mounts Tracking Devices Target Shooting Instruments Trap Shooting Training Equipment ordnance collectors who could not operate federally funded arsenals anymore.� Please note that all requests for retired equipment should be made through Special Weapons And Tactics Command email address SpecialWeaponsAndTactics@hqdotcom [This email address has since been discontinued]. This order caused a stir within the black community and many African Americans boycotted Army recruitment drives. The army gift history of the United States military is a long and varied history. The first American soldier was enlisting in the Continental Army on April 6, 1775, and by December of that year he had joined up with the Patriots. He was not only an infantryman but also got his start as a drummer boy for the 1st Battalion of Dragoons. In 1776 he enlisted in Captain John Adams' Second Regiment of Infantry and fought at Battle of Saratoga. From there he transferred to Captain George Washington's Regiment which fought at Battle of Princeton in January 1777 before eventually disbanding in October due to lack of volunteers. In November 1777 he re-enlisted into Captain James Kapp's 2nd Regiment which fought at Monmouth Court House and then at Trenton where they routed an English force under General John Burgoyne. On December 12th, 1777, he was discharged from service because of illness. After his discharge from service, Fenton went back to New York City where he became a part-time tutor for John Jay's children who were living with their mother during the Revolutionary War. In January 1778 Fenton moved to Philadelphia where he became one of Mayor Robert Morris' assistant justices in order to help prosecute cases related to taxation within PhiladelphiaCity Hall which was then being used as a British basecamp during the war effort. EventuallyFenton became acting mayor due to Morris' inability to continue serving due to health reasons when Morris died on February 15th,1779 AD. In May 178AD Fenton married Mary Decker who was born in Connecticut on October 25th, 1688 AD and had three children: Frederick (born on March 4th, 1700 AD), Eleanor (born on June 14th, 1702 AD), and Arthur (born on September 11th, 1704 AD). After moving back home in late spring or early summer178AD they started taking care of their own young family while continuing working as assistants justice until Philip Hardwick replaced Robert Morris as Mayor after Morris' death leaving office on July 15TH 178AD having served two terms total since becoming Mayor earlier that year amidst much speculation that Fenton would be chosen instead given his previous involvement with government affairs such as being Assistant Justice during the Revolution while also caring for Jay's childrens; however this never happened because Hardwick resigned after becoming city treasurer concurrent with Jay’s election victory making it clear that Philadelphia would continue its role as leader during peacetime unlike during wartime when it could be said that Philadelphia “lost” its status quo whereas other city governments grew more powerful following wartime successes such asBoston achieving independence from Britain) . The town was founded by French colonists in 1788 as a port on the Mississippi River. The history of Houma, Louisiana starts with the arrival of French colonists in 1765. The area that is now Houma was part of the Iberian colony of Louisiana. The French built a fort on the current site of Houma in 1768, and named it Fort Carondelet. In 1779, the British captured Fort Carondelet and renamed it Baton Rouge. Houma was first settled by American settlers in 1802. The town was originally called New Orleans but changed its name tohoum after General Robert E. Lee fell while trying to capture Baton Rouge from the French in 1865. At that time, Houma had a population of about 1,000 people. In 1839, a group of Virginians led by John Crain founded Trinity Episcopal Church in what is now downtown Houma. This church helped start what would become an important African-American community in Louisiana during this time period. In 1840,rating system for public water companies began being established in America and Trinity Episcopal Church became one of the first churches to receive a rating from this new system. In 1863, Confederate soldiers burned downHoax House on Wilkinson Street near present day Veterans Memorial Boulevard as part of their march southward towards Baton Rouge towards war with Union forces under General Ulysses S Grant. This event marks one of the earliest known outbreaks of violence in postwar Louisiana and also served as a turning point for the city's black community who at that point numbered only around 5 percentof total population
