For over a century, Hammond has been home to a gun lover's paradise. The city is known for its wide variety of firearms, from handguns to rifles and shotguns. It wasn't until after World War II that Hammond truly came into its own as a center for handgun sales and research. Today, Hammond is home to an incredible number of gun enthusiasts who come together every month to buy, sell and shoot weapons at various ranges across town. The Gun Lover's Classic Parade takes place each year on Saturday morning in downtown Hammond and features hundreds of different types of pistols and rifles being sold by dealers throughout the city.

Hammond, Louisiana is a small town located in the parish of Jefferson in southwestern Louisiana. It was founded by Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Hammond in 1812. The population was 975 as of the 2010 census. The Hammond community is named after General John C. Frémont and his family who settled there in 1836. The Hammonds were one of the original families to settle south of the Mississippi River and across from what is now Baton Rouge. They arrived on horseback and later built a cabin on a rise overlooking their new home. In 1869, General John C. Frémont became Commodore of the Gulf Squadron and donated land to become Hammond Airport which served as a base for American sailors during World War II and then as an airfield for Lumberjacks aviation flights until it closed in 1990. Hammond's economy has been based primarily on farming with some light manufacturing activity since the early 20th century. Petroleum production began operations at Hammond in 1918, resulting in an increase in local employment opportunities that continue to this day; however, petroleum production ceased entirely after 2003 when natural gas became more common throughout much of America>. Agriculture continues to be the mainstay of Hammond's economy, yielding high quality hay, cottonseed oil, soybeans, potatoes, cornmeal and other products that are sold throughout southwest Louisiana

Hammond, Louisiana is a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. It is located on the southern bank of the Mississippi River, about 25 miles east of New Orleans and 50 miles west of Baton Rouge. The population was 7,752 at the 2010 census. Hammond was named for General Henry A. Hammond, who served as commander of Union forces during the American Civil War. The first permanent settler in Hammond was Jean Baptiste Chouteau in 1794. He built a cabin on what is now State Route 2 near present-day Vidalia Street. In 1811, Pierre Laclède founded Laclède's Landing on the current site of Hammondsport Boulevard and Old Hammond Road to provide transportation for residents and goods necessary for their growing community. By 1816, Hammond had a store and two blacksmith shops. In 1821, Isaac White settled in Hammond from Illinois with his family after being refused entry to Arkansas by Governor Andrew Johnson because he was not white enough. White built an oven at what is now Courthouse Road and started to sell bread there in 1828; this became known as "White's Bakery". The first post office opened in 1830; it was renamed "Hammond" after General Henry A. Hammond when he arrived to take command of Union forces during the American Civil War (1861-1865). In 1836, John Sowle set up shop at what is now I-10 West before moving into larger brick buildings on present day Old Hammond Road across from Lake Pontchartrain that serve as today's municipal courthouse and city hall building; Wirt Sowle operated a sawmill next door until 1861 when it closed due to disease control measures implemented by then Mayor John Tillery that year also help support African Americans working within white society outside agriculture which would have been difficult without government assistance however other businesses did continue along with cotton ginners until World War II when electricity came available making farming more feasible again In 1865 Edwin Bogue became mayor after serving one term as sheriff concurrent with Ulysses S Grant who'd just become President effective January 20th 1865; Bogue advocated for local education becoming available through public schools starting with children ages 4 years old while also creating new ways to tax whites which led eventually to integration beginning September 3rd 1870 almost two full decades after Reconstruction ended nationally following election of Abraham Lincoln
Hammond is a city in and the county seat of Hammond Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. Hammond was founded in 1871 by Frenchmen Pierre-Alexandre Dumas and his brother Charles-Jacques Dumas. It named for General Ulysses S. Grant who fought in the American Civil War. Hammond's economy has been based largely on manufacturing since the early 20th century; today, it is primarily an agricultural town with a small manufacturing sector. Hammond is located on the banks of the Vermilion River, about northwest of New Orleans and southeast of Baton Rouge. The city center is located near Interstate 10 north of I-10 exit 152 (the old route to Lake Pontchartrain), east of Wilkinson Boulevard and south of US 90/State Highway 90W (the old alignment from Baton Rouge to New Orleans). Hammond was originally laid out as part of a larger area that included present-day Monroe, St Tammany Parish, Jefferson Davis Parish, Plaquemines Parish and East Carroll Parish before being combined into Hammond parish in 1871. The first permanent settler in what would become Hammond was Pierre Alexandre Dumas who arrived in 1851 from Martinique with his family. He built a cabin near what is now downtown Hammond on high ground overlooking the river which he called "Dumarestown". In 1861 General Ulysses S Grant visited America during his visit to Louisiana and when he got back home he donated land to form what would become Hammond boroughship – one day after he had personally donated land to create New Orleans both as its main cultural center and its financial center following its purchase from Spain by Bayou Saint John businessmen Joseph Vigneron et al.. In 1870 Daniel Darnell built d'Auberge du Lac where we now have our local grocery store/diner complex situated off Wilkinson Boulevard just east of I-10 exit 159A (now Old Airport Rd.). This original structure still stands today across from BP gas station off US 90W just south of Wilkinson Boulevard - all evidence suggests that this early settlement was not only hamlet but also had some kind Of incorporated government function or authority like most early communities did until statehood creeping up on them later on... Today many people remember grown men coming down Main Street wearing overalls carrying tools shopping for hams or bacon at Mrs Blanchard's Store while young women cooked dinner over an open fire using whatever they could find - including chicken wire mesh baskets made from tree limbs! Nowadays you'll find HWY 10 running through downtown past Mrs Blanchard's if you're looking for something specific...
