Eunice is a small town in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,948 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie metropolitan area. Eunice was founded in 1856 by Captain John Fenton and his wife, Missouri Ann Fenton. It became a city in 1907 and then a parish in 1916. The first white person to live here was Captain John Fenton on May 10, 1856. He and his wife, Missouri Ann Fenton were both from Kentucky and came downriver to start a new life in what is now Eunice. They named their new town for their home state of Illinois; however they quickly realized that this would be too difficult to maintain so they changed it to "Eunice" after their mother's native place of Louisiana (she had been born and raised there). Captain John's son-in-law JB Pillow also arrived here early on in1857 when he set up shop as an Independent Mercantile Company with two warehouses on the wharf next door to Captain John's tavern (now known as the First Baptist Church). This business grew rapidly until Pillow merged with another mercantile company, Hennepin & Co., later renamed American Merchants Inc., which also had its headquarters here. A post office was established at Eunice on October 15, 1859 under the name "Fenton", but it eventually became "New Orleans". In 1907 Eunice annexed part of neighboring Stroudsburg which gave it a total population of 2,811 people living within its limits only; however annexation has never been rescinded so as not to decrease its racial mix - since 1920 all residents have been black or white (or African American) regardless of residency status! Jimmie Lee Rankin opened Cement Works No 9 near present day US 71st Street/ road crossing Old Spanish Trail just south of downtown Eunice on January 11th 1915 following several years of hard work during World War I while incarcerated at Angola Penitentiary; Rankin started out making ready molds for cast concrete using natural gas obtained from underground coal seams nearby with help from friends among fellow inmates who supplied him with tools while working off death row! rankin ran his business successfully until his arrest in 1946 because he refused segregationist policies put into effect by Governor Dewey Long! rankin's business partner WK Ranken continued operations until 1953 when WW II interrupted production due to wartime shortages

Eunice is a small town in the parish of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was founded by French colonists in 1718 and named for Eunice, the daughter of a nobleman from Normandy. The population of Eunice was 447 at the 2010 census. The first settlers to Eunice were led by Captain Jean-Baptiste Lemaître, who arrived with his band of Acadians on October 15, 1718. He built a fortified house and called it Fort du Lac (Lakeland). In 1721, he sold his land in Eunice to Nicholas Bourgeois and Pierre Boucher. Eunice's initial growth consisted primarily of agriculture; chickens were the primary source of income until well into the 19th century. By 1812, however, residents had developed some industry as well: three blacksmiths operated an oven and forge near the center of town while two other smithsmiths manufactured iron cannons for military use. A weaving shop also operated out of one building until it burned down in 1854; this structure Today marks off what is now known as Business Street in downtown Eunice. A post office was established at Eunice in 1827 and remained operational until 1959; during that time it served as both a store and sending station for local farmers' mailboxes. The first school opened up in 1830 but closed due to tight financial constraints shortly afterward. The present day parish church was constructed between 1840-1845 after donations from citizens including J.-C Lalande (a sugarcane planter), Antoine Lafitte (the founder/president of New Orleans), Émile Alexandre Pétion (a congressman), Gervaise Poissonneau (an early woman businesswoman) and others helped finance construction costs totaling $1 million dollars (). EunICE experienced significant growth following its incorporation into the parish of Baton Rouge on November 2, 1851 (). With 1,837 residents currently living there (), it became one of the most populous communities within its boundaries - surpassing even neighboring Lafayette (). However., despite having more inhabitants than any other parish within Baton Rouge’s limits by 1860 (), development stagnated following Reconstruction which saw many former slaveowners move away from rural Louisiana towards larger cities such as New York City or Chicago . This change not only affected economic fortunes but social fabric too – white working classes began moving away from rural areas towards urban centers while African Americans continued struggling to gain access to education and jobs throughout much of antebellum America

Eunice was founded in 1855 as a small community on the east bank of the Orangina River within present-day Plaquemines Parish. A post office called Eunice was established in 1857, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. The name "Eunice" comes from French meaning "to be fruitful." In 1861, General Robert Ewell led Confederate forces into Union Territory west of New Orleans during the American Civil War. Heading north to encounter Union forces at Beauregard's Landing on the southbank of the Orangina River nearpresent-day Eunice, General Ewell's men destroyed several Federal supply trains and withdrew without engaging or capturing any Union soldiers or supplies. On November 15, 1865 – three days after General Robert Ewell's death – President Abraham Lincoln issued his Compromise Plan which ended the war. In 1865–1866, white supremacists burned down large numbers of black homes throughout northeastern Louisiana after a race riot occurred nearby in Stroudsburg Township; this event has been described as one of3 great black public scandals (the others being Reconstruction and white power politics). In 1886, local banker and politician John Besh built what would become one of America's first commercial skyscrapers – 100 feet (30 m) high and designed by Cajuns artistically inclined George Loyd Wright – at 5th Street and Canal Street in downtown Lafayetteville. The new buildings became known as "The Big Apple". In 1922–1923, Mayor Raymond Jaffe organized an art show at Loyola University sponsored by then New Orleans mayor James T Moore to promote arts education in New Orleans following Hurricane Andrew which had caused extensive damage to much of downtown Saint Louis City including nearly all of Wright's commercially successful skyscraper designs located there including two tall Water Tower blocks now part of LSU campus also included inside newly renovated Lafitte Hotel/ casino with Dogeared frontage on Canal Street facing both streets now used for private functions only hotel open to tourists only
