During these trips, it was commonplace for senior naval personnel and dignitaries to dine aboard ship or take advantage of all the amenities available on shore - whether it was a golf tournament or movie night out. Many commanders also took advantage of unique opportunities like underway tours of duty ports where they could witness firsthand how warships operate at sea next to major marine facilities. These experiences were something that many enlisted men and women looked forward to each year - even if they didn't get a chance to visit one specific warship on assignment! Sailors often remember their deployments fondly because they were able experience new cultures, meet new people, learn about different weapons systems, play practical jokes on fellow Marines and enjoy some great food when ashore (sometimes referred to as "the good life"). Some memorable deployments include deployment onboard USS Enterprise along with Task Force 68 during Operation Desert Storm in 1991; deployment into Persian Gulf Theater aboard USS Abraham Lincoln following Saddam Hussein's Invasion in 1990; participation in multinational exercises such as Iwo Jima- Korokoro which involved live fire training against Japanese targets - something that never happens today because Japan has cut off all military ties with Russia! Additionally important deployments included service aboard amphibious ships such as battleships Constitution (BB-65) and Franklin D Roosevelt (BB-88) during Operations Coral Sea/Midway 1942; participation contemporaneous with World War II Battle Of Midway which resulted in Carrier Strike Group 5As sinking 3 Japanese carriers plus 12 aircraft carrier planes resulting In damages totaling $27 million dollars ($171 billion adjusted For inflation) – an event still considered one of the most successful amphibious campaigns ever fought!
The Navy deployed a number of gift items in commemoration of the USS John F. Kennedy’s 50th anniversary this past year. These include a miniature submarine and an ice cream truck that were both sent to Key West, Florida as part of a “JFK Miniature submarine promotion.” The toy submarines are just the latest in a long line of navy-themed gifts, along with commemorative coins and mugs. The key to any navy gift is its appropriateness – these small submarines represent only a tiny portion of the USS Kennedy’s history, but they embody the spirit and culture of the navy so beautifully. The USS Deridder (LCS-5) was deployed to the Gulf of Mexico in support of Operation Neptune's Spear, and arrived at Naval Base Little Rock on July 12th, 2011. She was transferred from her previous homeport of Pensacola, Florida to Naval Base Little Rock on October 2nd. The LCS-5 has been stationed at the naval base since then and is currently undergoing a $27 million renovation which will wraps up by the end of this year.
Deridder is a small town in the parish of Lafourche, Louisiana, United States. The population was 939 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lafayette metropolitan area. The community is named after General David Deridder and his wife Margaret Caldwell. The first settlers in what is now Deridder were French colonists who arrived in 1759. They built a small cabin on the banks of the Assumption River where they soon realized there was no water to provide for their crops and livestock. So they began to look for a new home that would be nearer to trade with other parts of Louisiana and beyond. In 1772, General David Deridder donated land to build a settlement which he called Caldwell's Colony. The first store in Deridder opened its doors in 1825 and continued operations until 1951 when it closed due to competition from more modern stores opening up around town. The post Office moved into its current building in 1907, becoming one of only two post offices remaining in Lafourche Parish when it wasestablished as an incorporated municipality on November 1, 1909. In 1915, Deridder became one of nineteen parishes within newly created Lafourche Parish government; however, by 1920 it had shrunk back to five streets with just over 100 residents. deridediver@gmail com

Deridder is a town in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Opelousas–Bossier City metropolitan area. The Town of Deridder was organized on March 6, 1847 by WILLIAM FOSTER and JOHN DAVIS. On July 24, 1848 JAMES ELLIOTT received from the State of Louisiana a grant for 640 acres (2 km²) extending eastward to within limits aforesaid granted to WILLIAM FOSTER in 1834. This grant became known as the Elliot Grant and included most of present day Deridder Parish as well as parts of neighboring Harrison and Livingston parishes. On December 2, 1861 WILLIAM FOSTER sold all his land in present day Catahoula Parish including Deridder to CHARLES BAILEY for $1,500+. On January 1, 1865 CHARLES BAILEY married MARY ANN HUGHES who resided in Iberia Parish at that time. DERIDDER began to form as a town on February 8th when it voted to annex part of Livingston parish south of the bridge over the Assumption River on its west side which then formed part of Deer Park Township and later Clayborn Township/Centerville Borough before being annexed byDeridder on November 7th 1886 when it voted to become an unincorporated community under the name "Deridder". It was reported that around this time there were only 10 or 12 people living in town with about 300 acres (12 km²)of surveyed land available for settlement including what is now Main Street and much of derridder creek between US 71 & Baton Rouge Rd., which would have made it easy enough for settlers to move into what would become their new home without having to worry about getting lost or taking difficult roads back home again after leaving their original place of residence! In 1910 DEMETRIUS RICHARDSON opened up a grocery store in town which quickly became popular with locals and visitors alike due largely to its good selection of groceries not found anywhere else near Derridder at that time! In 1930 EDWIN SULLIVAN opened up his own grocery store just east off US 71 opposite Main Street where he continued operation until his death in 1978! HIS GRANDNEE LIZZIE SIEGLER still runs her business today - Liz's Gourmet Emporium - adjacent to her husband's restaurant called Sullivan's on US 71 next door! Her late husband also founded another small business - Cecil's Cakery - across from Sullivan's right after they moved into their current building back in 1970! In recent years many other businesses have arisen along lovely Main Street such as restaurants like China Knights Chinese Buffet & Cafe down the street from Liz’s Gourmet Emporium; Joe’s Pizza located across from Walmart; Heritage Tire & Auto Repair; Betty Crocker Candy Store; True Value Hardware - all providing local employment opportunities within walking distance! TodayDeridder has evolved into an extremely busy small town with plenty going on both inside and outside its boundaries!! With so much activity happening here there are always something new or exciting happening for residents and tourists alike!!
