Crowley is a town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 10,562 at the 2010 census. Crowley is the seat of Jefferson Parish and it is one of the oldest towns in the parish. It was founded by German immigrants on a bluff overlooking Lake Pontchartrain. The first permanent settler in Crowley was Captain Johann Gottlieb Fetterman who built a log cabin in 1794. A post office called Crowley was established in 1824 and remained in operation until 1909. In 1899, General John J. Pershing gave land to develop into what is now Crowley Village which included 3 churches and 12 lots of land for housing development. The village developed over time but never reached its full potential because of competition from neighboring towns such as New Orleans and Hammondsport which had larger populations at that time. In 1965, Crescent City Elementary School (now known as Cullen Magnet Middle School) opened when Crescent City High School (now known as Roosevelt HS) closed its doors for good. In response to this closure, local businessmen began to build a new high school on site which would eventually become Crowley HS (now known as Roosevelt-Cullen). This new high school became operational on September 1st, 1966 and remain an important part of the community today.

Crowley is a town located in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,594 at the 2010 census. Crowley is named after Crowley's Cave, which lies within the town limits. The first permanent settler in Crowley was blacksmith John White. White and his family built their cabin on what is now owned by the parish government. In 1825, white man William Cunningham purchased land north of present-day Crowley from Black Jack Dye for $2 per acre (valued at $140 today). Cunningham renamed his holdings "Crowley" after himself and placed a post office in operation in 1827. By 1840, the community had a population of 150 people and two churches: one Baptist and one Methodist. In 1846, Stephen Fenton bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land east of present-day Crowleysville for $4 per acre (valued at $116 today). He named his new tract "Crowley Township". In 1850–1851, he organized nine small farmer's associations to help improve farming conditions throughout the township. These associations formed what would become known as the "Crowley Agricultural Society" or simply "The Society." Fenton donated additional land to The Society between 1853 and 1865; this area became known as "Fenton Township". On February 1, 1865 – three days after General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House – The Society erected a large wooden structure nearpresent-day Crowley High School as its first meeting hall. A later building served as courthouse from 1890 through 1925; it was destroyed by fire in 1951. On January 20, 1893 – less than two years after incorporation – Crowley town passed an ordinance adopting a French name for itself: Covington Parish. This naming change reflected local sentiment that English sounds more polite than French names like Stroudsburg or Monroeville which were associated with nearby towns such as Jacksonvill
