They named their new settlement after Elder Orson Hyde's father Isaac Hyde (1775–1846), one of eleven children born to Methodistsanna Hales and John Hyde (1759–1825). Reverend Dallin Hanks was also among early settler families in Crowley; he arrived with his family on December 12, 1893. The LDS Church organized a stake in Crowley on January 1, 1896. That same year saw the arrival of Brigham Young's son Thomas Sorenson from Ogden Utah Territory as an apostle for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
