Bossier City is a city in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. The population was 16,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Bossier Parish. It was founded in 1836 as a steamboat landing on the Red River by General John C. Breckinridge and his brigade of volunteers from Texas under Major General Antonio López de Santa Anna, who called it "New Orleans". In 1861, after Confederate forces sacked New Orleans for lack of supplies, Bossier City became the capital of West Louisiana until Baton Rouge became its permanent capital in 1881. The first courthouse in Bossier City was built in 1837 and replaced an earlier cabin near what is now Union Station on Canal Street. The present courthouse was built between 1904 and 1906 to replace an older building that had been damaged by a fire. In 1860, before Confederate forces sacked New Orleans for lack of supplies following their victory over Union troops at Battles of Shiloh and Vicksburg,Bossier City became the capital of West Louisiana until Baton Rouge became its permanent capital in 1881 due to political decisions made by Governor Isaac P. Houston during Reconstruction efforts following the Civil War. The market square located east of downtown was renamed Market Square Gardens after Mayor James Fenton's donation to that name in 1901 because all other business districts within city limits were then administered from Baton Rouge (then also the state capital). The first post office opened in Bossier City on October 11, 1836; it closed on July 15th, 1840 because no mail could be delivered due to Spanish military occupation blockers along the Red River shortly before that date. A new post office opened at nearby Iberia on December 1st 1850 and continued serving until January 3rd 1865 when it reopened at Bossiersville under US Army command as headquarters for District No. 7 Southwestern Louisiana commanded by Colonel Edward Sibley Johnson with Major General Nathaniel Banks acting as commanding general responsible for all civil affairs therein including elections etc., although duties were divided between both posts until May 1865 when they were placed under one roof again under USArmy command with Colonel Sibley Johnson acting as commander until September 30th 1870 when he resigned due to illness; thereafter commands passed through Colonel Johnson's son Edwin DillardJohnson Jr., who served from November 6th 1870 thru February 17th 1880 & March 5th 1890 thru August 12th 1895 & finally Captain Albert J.--Humphrey from September 15th 1896 thru December 5th 1898 inclusive before establishment effective date February 10, 1899 which resulted finally liquidationof Post Office Department effective January 6teenth 1899 via order issued by Mayor Hinton Waddell.(1) By this time only two streets remained within original town limits- Canal Street running northwesterly past downtown eastward into Uptown while Rue des Francs Streets ran easterly into Old Town which eventually merged into downtown once again following Hurricane Betsy which destroyed most businesses thereon October 14TH 1999(2) A brand new $9 million civic center/ mall has been constructed adjacent to CenturyLink Field just southwest thereof since opening day April 3rd 2001 having replaced much older facility which had become obsolete thanks largely to Hurricane Katrina which hit late summer 2005(3) A bypass project Interstate 10 has taken place concurrent with construction thereof across I-10 about two miles west thereof creating increased traffic congestion throughout entire area resultant in several fatalities resulting primarily from pedestrian crossings rather than vehicular traffic accidents per se but also contributing significantly thereto including three deaths attributable thereto during construction period thus far(4) An agreement has been reached whereby scenic overlooks located within Tensas Parish will be open year round free access notwithstanding weather conditions thereby providing additional opportunities for tourists (5)) This paper will focus exclusively upon aspects related specificallyto Bossier City- its history, culture, economy and attractions such as its world famous Lake Pontchartrain Resort where luxury golf courses are played year-round but especially during Christmas week when resort becomes a popular tourist destination worldwide especially among people traveling internationally or visiting friends& family back home; Lake Pontchartrain Resort's casino where many high rollers take refuge not only during Christmas week but also annually throughout June & July offers some very good gambling experiences even if less excitement than elsewhere aroundworld however more customers are usually brought inside compared with those coming out being mostly visitors staying awhile whereas out side casinos typically provide little else besides slot machines& blackjack

The following year saw both HMS Victory (the first British warship ever sunk by Americans) and USS Constitution (the first American warship ever sunk by Britons) sink at Battle of Manila Bay under orders from Commodore John Paul Jones himself! This show just how important America’s naval forces were at this time! In 1812-1813, Admiral Dewey destroyed dozens of Spanish ships off Cuba under control of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna – one such victory helped solidify American control over Cuba! In 1815-1816, Commodore Matthew Perry fought a series of successful engagements against Japan with his fleet off Hokkaido; these engagements are often considered as one of the greatest naval victories ever achieved by any country!!! In 1850-1851 USS Monitor successfully defended Mobile Bay from an attack by Confederate forces led by Robert E Lee!!! This event cemented U.S.- Confederate Naval ties!!! During World War II, America relied heavily on its navies to help win WWII: they performed admirably both offensively and defensively!! With over 1 million sailors killed or wounded duringWWII alone*, there can be no doubt that America’s navies play an important part in American culture today!

The Bossier City area was first settled by the Caddo people in the early 1800s. The area became a part of Louisiana after the American Revolution. The first white person to live in Bossier City was John Kirby, who arrived in 1818. In 1834, Colonel Edward Pemberton built a small town on the northeast corner of what is now I-10 and FM 1471. Pemberton named his town Bossier City after General Andrew Jackson, who had served as Governor of this territory during the American Civil War. In 1887, Bossier City became an independent city when it joined New Orleans. During World War II, Stilwell Air Force Base was located within the boundaries ofBossiersCity limits and many residents worked at the base. After the war ended, many military members left and businesses closed down; however, some remain active in BossiersCity today including professional athletes such as running back Darren Sproles and linebacker Derrick Brooks. The first European to visit the Bossier City area was a group of Frenchmen who were looking for a place to plant cotton. The French named the area "Bossier" after one of their geographers, Jean-Baptiste Boussus. In 1804, General Andrew Jackson and his army invaded Texas and marched through Bossier City. General Jackson stopped at the river's edge in order to drink from it. The water was so cold that he had trouble drinking it, but he decided to stop in Bossier City because it looked like a nice town with good architecture. After eating some food at a local restaurant, he went on ahead without stopping again. Several years later, another group of Frenchmen came looking for land to farm and they named the area "Bossier" after Jean-Baptiste Boussus himself. They started farming here and began making money off of selling goods they produced such as cotton and sugar cane. By 1830, the city had grown enough that Governor Claiborne Conner decided to build a courthouse here instead of going door-to-door preaching Christianity all over Louisiana because he felt that this would be more efficient for business reasons. In 1835, America acquired Texas from Mexico by way of an agreement known as the Treaty of San Antonio which ceded all Mexican territory east of Rio Grande except for what is now Bossier County including present day Baton Rouge and Monroe counties as well as parts of New Orleans County including today's Jefferson Parish. As part as part of this treaty, Mexico also agreed not to make any more claims against Texas until Congress granted citizenship to all adult Texans born or naturalized in U.S., regardless of their nationality at that time (this became effective on January 1st, 1846). As part of this treaty arrangement between America and Mexico there were two other settlements made within Yankees territory: Red River Colony on the north bank near Natchitoches (later renamed Monroe)and LaGrange on the south bank near Shreveport (later renamed Alexandria). These towns were established by white Americans seeking wealth generated from Native American land grants obtained under previous treaties with those groups rather than from Spain which still held some influence over much east Texas at that time
