Small batch coffee has been around for many years in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Coffee prices have fluctuated over the years, but small batches of coffee have always been a mainstay in the community. Coffee was first brought to Bogalusa by African slaves on plantations near present day Baton Rouge. The beans were roasted and ground onsite, and this method of production helped to keep prices low and provide a steady stream of revenue for the slaveowners. Over time, other methods of production began to take hold in the community, including using pre-packaged beans or purchasing whole bean coffee from roasters or cafes. Christian Brothers Coffee is one of the oldest small batch coffee roasters in Louisiana and has been serving quality cupcakes and coffees since 1978. This year marks their 25th anniversary!

Bogalusa, Louisiana is a small town located in the parish of Ascension, LA. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. Bogalusa is known for its white oak trees and bluegrass music. The town has a post office, two churches, and one school. The first settlers in what is now Bogalusa were two families from Texas who came to Louisiana in 1848. They named their new land Bogalusa after the Spanish word "bogota." In 1860, John Chilton purchased land east of Butterfield Bayou from the Choctaws. He built a Log Cabin home which still stands today and it served as his official residence until he died in 1872. In 1865, Isaac Davenport arrived with his family from Illinois and founded Davenportville on what is now Vermilion Parish. He built a cabin near present-day Bogalusa and called it Davenportville because he thought it would be more likely to survive than other settlements in the area because of its fresh water supply and marshy areas nearby. Over time, other settlers followed suit and began calling their townships by different names: Acadia (1867), Illini (1868), Prairie (1869), Oconee (1871), Blanco (1872), & Lamar (1902). In 1881, an act was passed which changed the name of Ascension Parish to Bogalusa Parish due to objections from some residents who felt that their name should have been given to a larger parish in central Louisiana instead of one located east of Baton Rouge on the Iberian Peninsula where they lived originally. The first courthouse in what is now Bogalusa was built around 1892 by Jno Epps Jr., father of Jno Epps III who later became Governor of Louisiana under then President Jimmy Carter Sr.. It was destroyed by fire during Hurricane Betsy early in 1990 but restoration efforts have since started including construction of a new courthouse on Avenue C just north of downtown Bogalusa which opened on July 1st, 2014! In honor of Governor Edwin Edwards’s support for creating jobs within the community during Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts all local businesses are participating including Big Boy BBQ whose rebuild began shortly thereafter!

Bogalusa is a small town located in the parish of Terrebonne, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie-Kenner metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Bogalusa were explorers Jacques Marquette and Pierre Le Moyne in 1604 and 1605 respectively. They named it after a chief of the Houma people who had been killed thereabouts some years earlier. Bogalusa's earliest occupants may have been Native Americans who lived near present-day Bogalusa Lake until they were displaced by European settlers in the 18th century. In 1752, French colonists founded a post called "Bogalusa" on an island in Assumption Bayou near what is now Bogalusa Elementary School. In 1763, British colonists established a post here as well and renamed it Fort George after General George Washington's headquarters at Mount Vernon during his military campaigns against France. It was during this time that Bogalusa developed into one of the most important fur trading posts on the eastern coast of America because its location gave it access to both Spanish and French fishing grounds as well as trade with various Native American nations including the Houma, Natchez, and Chitimacha peoples. A new courthouse was built here in 1859 which served as both municipal court house and jail for offenders awaiting trial before local justices or county commissioners or other governing officials. The courthouse burned down in 1881 but was rebuilt adjacent to today's Bogalusa Municipal Courthouse (now used by District Court) within two years with funding from then-Governor John Craines Sr.. A new school building was also constructed which served as both public schoolhouse and private academy until it burned down in 1915; however, reconstruction began immediately upon its fire and continued until 1979 when that building too became district courthouse property along with much of nearby business district including today's old bank where IHOP sits today). After almost 150 years living side by side with these entities - physical evidence that this community ever really existed - residents thereof gathered together recently to commemorate what has come to be known locally affectionately as “the Great Fire” day – November 10th annually – via several events organized throughout 2017/2018 inclusive: picnics & fireworks displays overlooking downtown square; Heritage Days parade complete w/ floats depicting costumes & life story of town namesake Miss Lizzie Joe Armstrong; specialsession on Town Council minutes attended by Mayor Karen Fournier & Commissioners Jeff Weaver & Darryl White; “Fiesta” night classic rock show at Parish Hall featuring proceeds benefiting Stonington Area Library System.; Hog roast / barbecuing event taking place next door at Parish Park amphitheater nightly from 6pm-10pm thru Sunday evening only!

Bogalusa was founded by the Choctaw people in 1718. The first Europeans to visit Bogalusa were Frenchmen in 1763, who named it La Nouvelle-Orléans. In 1803, a group of Englishmen came to Louisiana and named the town after Bogalusa, Georgia. The town grew rapidly due to its position at the mouth of the Mississippi River and its natural resources such as cotton, saltpeter, and lead. By 1811, Bogalusa had a population of over 2,000 people. In 1815, Governor Zachary Taylor appointed Colonel James Wilkinson as administrator of Louisiana for Spanish settlers. Wilkinson built a fort at Bogalusa in 1816 and began trading with Native Americans. In 1830, General Andrew Jackson took office as President of the United States and ordered Wilkinson to remove all Spanish settlers from Louisiana. Wilkinson refused and was arrested by Jackson.
