The shotgun was used for hunting game in the area and is still preserved at the Bastrop Museum of History and Culture. On December 5, 1911, an ammunition store in Bastrop sold surplus military rounds to J.P. Baker for $1 per round. This became known as “Bastrop” ammo because it was distributed throughout Bastrop County. On February 15, 1912, Johnnie Ladd purchased a rifle from Rufus Witherspoon at the old post office building located on Washington Street in Bastrop. The rifle was used by Ladd to shoot deer during his property hunting trips near present day Bastrop Creek Ranch (now within the city limits of Bastrop). On July 12, 1916, Averill Hargrave Purchased a Winchester Model 1903 Rifle from Ephraim Goodrich at the old general store on Main Street in downtown Bastrop for $60 dollars cashier’s check payable to Goodrich & Company National Bankruptcy Trustees Incorporated. Goodrich had been employed by Jens Pohlmann as an armorer at their new plant manufacturing rifles for World War I troops being shipped into Europe aboard American shipsyards ashore along France’s eastern coast under Project M-1916 which ultimately led to World War II when Germany acquire its own weapons industry – this project also included production of high quality assault rifles that were designated “M-1916” type firearms by various United States government agencies including Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) under former Director George Maloney who also served as President Nixon’s Deputy Chief of Staff during his time in office). When goodrich went bankrupt prior to World War I he left all his assets unto himself creating what would become known as Goodrich National Bankruptcy Trustees Incorporated or GNBT for short which held title to all outstanding U.S.$ notes issued by Jerome Hirshhorn & Co., Numbered Treasury Notes Branch dealing exclusively In Securities transactions between broker-dealers duly licensed pursuant To Rule 10b5-3 Of The Federal Reserve System And Related Transactions~ original issues not subject thereto (later changed To Security Holdings Corporation) having ceased Issuance since 1934 despite occasional renewals through 1963 although continued legal authority thereto remains vested In Secretary Of Commerce public law No: 90–618). firearm owner Identification Card #2132 or similar document bearing date 6/15/1968). Bastrop is home to several historically significant sites including Fort de Ville which served as a military post during the American Revolution; Saint John's Episcopal Church which was built in 1865; and DeSoto House which is one of four remaining slave quarters in New Orleans that were used for African Americans during the 1800s.

After this change took effect, many permit holders began turning in their old permits for new ones as they no longer needed them because they now had PINS instead of licenses.

The modern day city began to form in earnest during the late 1960s when oil exploration began occurring in nearby Lubbock County and interest in Gulf Coast development increased along with demand for labor around New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina's landfall two years earlier. Today, Bastrop is home to many businesses and institutions such as Baptist University, Saint Anthony’s Episcopal Church, Lubbock Downtown Airport and numerous restaurants and bars dating back to its early days as a small agricultural center surrounded by farmland
