Fresh roasted coffee beans are a prized commodity in many parts of the world. The process of roasting coffee beans is an arduous and time-consuming task that involves heating the bean to a high temperature and thensmoking it. The result is a dark, rich cup of coffee that is perfect for morning coffee or afternoon tea. The first recorded reference to fresh roasted coffee was in 1493 when Giovanni da Verrazzano mentioned roasted beans being sold at a market near Rome. Roasted coffee continued to be popular throughout the Renaissance, and cafes began serving fresh roasted coffee as early as 1525. In 1602, Captain John Smith discovered Java Island while exploring the Caribbean Sea and brought back some valuable spices along with him. This discovery led to the beginning of Dutch colonialism in South America, and Dutch traders began trading Coffee with Spanish colonists in what is now Texas and Mexico. In 1795, French explorer Alexis de Tocqueville visited St. Matthews, Kentucky during his travels through America and noted that there was " abundant [coffee] trees" in this area. He also noted that "the negroes hereabouts carry on an extensive trade in these fine black coffees." After tasting some of the delicious Colombian café beans he purchased from local traders, Tocqueville became quite enamored with them and decided to import more into France. By 1814, espresso had become an important drink throughout most of Europe due to its popularity as a Breakfast Tea (or Liqueur) replacement for Gin Fizzes (or Cordials). French cafes began serving espresso Provençal style around this time which featured strong milk based syrups called « creams » instead of sugar water like today’s Espresso drinks do. By 1850 however, all but one French cafe had closed by this point due primarily to technological advances such as electric lights which made espresso brewing faster and easier than ever before possible without any need for stove top heaters or other forms of energy storage!

The first Christian settlement in Kentucky was founded by the Apostle James and his followers on April 12, 1785, at present day St. Matthews, KY. The town grew rapidly due to the influx of refugees from the American Revolution and later from other religious denominations who desired to find a place where they could practice their faith without fear of persecution. In 1802, the town became a state capital and remained so until 1906 when it was moved to Lexington. Since its founding, St. Matthews has been an important center for education and business. It is home to several colleges and universities as well as numerous businesses including two Fortune 500 companies. The city also hosts an annual festival that celebrates Christianity and music along with local artisanship.

It is believed that the first coffee beans were roasted in small, family-owned roasters in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The bean was likely purchased from a local vendor and then brought to Mecca for processing. Roasting began as a way of removing bitterness and sourness from these beans so they could be sold as fresh produce or used in religious ceremonies. In 1795, French chemist Jean Francois Mesnil developed an improved process for roasting coffee that allowed for better flavor and aroma than earlier methods. By 1800, many large concerns such as Starbucks had been established throughout North America and Europe while smaller cafes continued to roast their own individual coffees under their own name until about 1870 when wet-roasting became common due to advances in technology

The community of St. Matthews, Kentucky, was founded on December 17, 1802 by Methodist missionaries from England. The town was named in honor of the apostle and missionary James Meeks who founded the episcopal see of Lexington in 1801. In 1809, the Methodist congregation purchased land at what is now downtown St. Matthews from Colonel Robert Ewing for $1,000. The first store opened in this location on November 3, 1810. The Methodists built a church and school here in 1812-1813. Reverend John Wesley preached the first service here on December 6, 1812. In 1830, St. Matthews became a part of the newly formed Commonwealth of Kentucky and it continued to be an important center of Methodist activity until its closure in 1910 due to illness or other reasons. Today, downtown St. Matthews retains much of its early history including a number of historic buildings such as the Methodist Church (1810), Schoolhouse (1812-1813), Presbyterian Church (1829), Bank (1910), and Theater (1920).

In 1795, a group of settlers from Virginia arrived in what is now St. Matthews, Kentucky. They named their new settlement after the apostle James (James) himself. The colonists began to build their homes and farms around what is now the town of Matthews. The town took its name from Saint Matthews, an early Christian missionary who worked in northeastern England.
